El Scorcho
(Ay caramba! / Woo!)

Well, Goddamn you half-Japanese girls
Do it to me every time
Oh, the redhead said you shred the cello
And I'm jello, baby

But you won't talk, won't look, won't think of me
I'm the epitome of public enemy
Why you wanna go and do me like that?
Come down on the street and dance with me

I'm a lot like you so please
Hello, I'm here, I'm waiting
I think I'd be good for you
And you'd be good for me

I asked you to go to the Green Day concert
You said you never heard of them
How cool is that?
So I went to your room and read your diary:

"Watching Grunge leg-drop New Jack through a press table..."
And then my heart stopped:
"listening to Cio-Cio San fall in love all over again."

I'm a lot like you so please
Hello, I'm here, I'm waiting (Oh, we're crazy now!)
I think I'd be good for you
And you'd be good for me

How stupid is it? I can't talk about it
I gotta sing about it and make a record of my heart
How stupid is it? Won't you gimme a minute
Just come up to me and say "hello" to my heart
How stupid is it? For all I know you want me too
And maybe you just don't know what to do
Or maybe you're scared to say: "I'm falling for you"

I wish I could get my head out of the sand
'Cause I think we'd make a good team
And you would keep my fingernails clean

But that's just a stupid dream that I won't realize
'Cause I can't even look in your eyes without shakin', and I ain't fakin'
I'll bring home the turkey if you bring home the bacon

I'm a lot like you so please
Hello, I'm here, I'm waiting
I think I'd be good for you
And you'd be good for me

This is the song of my useless, pathetic teenage life.

This song is about not having the self confidence to tell a person that you love them. He is overwhelmed by her and really wants to tell her, but he can't . "How stupid is it? I cant talk about, I got to sing about it." It just talks about how stupid it is that he cant just go and tell her that he likes her. He goes on to say "for all iknow maybe you want me to." Its pretty self explanatory. Also, "I got to make a record of my heart" goes to show that Rivers put his heart into this album, and that when it didnt do good, he wanted o stop playing these songs off "PInkerton." So for all u asking that question, that is why. After this record was somewhat a downfall, Rivers felt bad, because he basically put his heart into it. Personally, I think it is their best album. This song is great, and I can really relate, as can a lot of people probably. A lot of times you have an obsession with someone, but your so afraid of rejection that you dont say anything. But if you love them then you should just go for it. This song is the best weezer song, and it ends with one of the best lines ever: "Ill bring home the turkey if you bring home the bacon." I mean come on who could of thought of that besides Rivers

it basically describes that pathetic weak state of love, where basically you can't get yourself to ask or tell said person your in love with. i mean christ, for all you know the person your in love with might like you back, but shit ur too weak....i can relate to this song so much.

    My Interpretation

Everything about this song points to social anxiety. He sees a girl who's his type and they have interests in common, and so he gets weak ("I'm jello") and doesn't interact with her. He hopes that she'll make the first move, because even though he could see things working out between the two of them, he's too afraid.

this song is all i have listened to for the past few weeks in the hope that i'd ask this girl i know to a greenday concert or something.. but shit, it wasn't enough, and she went out with someone else.

and seriously, for all i know she wanted me too. shit, i am such an asshole.

    and by the way..

"This is the song of my useless, pathetic teenage life."

.. there is no better way to describe this song. THE best song EVER.

Johnny Grunge is one half of the tag team Public Enemy, who spent that time period in ECW. Just to confirm that for you.

It means he likes a girl and doesn't know how to say it. Cause and point: "how stupid is it I can't talk about it I gotta sing about it". He is obviously clueless how to tell her. Just like I'm clueless how to tell this guy in my webmastering class that I like him. He's got a girlfriend, but I burned him a copy of Pinkerton and told him track 7 rocks. Hopefully he got the hint. Or reads this whatever. At anyrate he has killer green eyes.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
