Hm, mm, mm, mm
Ooh
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, yes yeah

Sometimes I shave my legs and sometimes I don't
Sometimes I comb my hair and sometimes I won't
Depend on how the wind blows, I might even paint my toes
It really just depends on whatever feels good in my soul

I'm not the average girl from your video
And I ain't built like a supermodel
But I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I'm not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I'm wearing I will always be
India Arie

When I look in the mirror and the only one there is me
Every freckle on my face is where it's supposed to be
And I know my creator didn't make no mistakes on me
My feet, my thighs, my lips, my eyes, I'm loving what I see, yeah

I'm not the average girl from your video
And I ain't built like a supermodel
But I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I'm not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I'm wearing I will always be
India Arie

Am I less of a lady if I don't wear panty hose?
My mama said a lady ain't what she wears, but what she knows
But I've drawn the conclusion, it's all an illusion
Confusion's the name of the game
A misconception, a vast deception
Something's gotta change

Don't be offended this is all my opinion
Ain't nothing that I'm saying law
This is a true confession
Of a life learned lesson
I was sent here to share with y'all
So get in where you fit in, go on and shine
Clear your mind, now's the time
Put your salt on the shelf
Go on and love yourself (go on and love yourself)
'Cause everything's gonna be alright (go on and love yourself)

I'm not the average girl from your video
And I ain't built like a supermodel (hey)
But I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I'm not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I'm wearing I will always be
India Arie

Keep your fancy drinks, and your expensive minks
I don't need that to have a good time
Keep your expensive car and your caviar
All I need is my guitar

Keep your Cristal and your pistol
I'd rather have a pretty piece of crystal
Don't need you silicone, I prefer my own
What God gave me is just fine, oh

I'm not the average girl from your video
And I ain't built like a supermodel
But I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I'm not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
No matter what I'm wearing I will always be
India Arie

I'm not the average girl from your video
And I ain't built like a supermodel
But I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen
I'm not the average girl from your video
My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes

Accepting yourself for who you are and loving yoruself for exactly the same reason. Despite all the images that mass media projects of the "perfect women." Women should stop trying to identify themselves with these superficial icons and start to bring out and highlight their best qualities. In order to gain self respect, dignity and honour for self healing. Hence its about nurturing yourself and being honest with yourself.

I love this song. It makes me happy, & proud of who I am. Its actually meaningful, unlike most of the crap I hear playing all the time.

this is about loving you, for you. no matter what you look like, you are still beautiful if you think so. this doesn't mean to be concited, it just means...don't try to always go w/ the flow. be yourself. be unique. don't look at beauty magizines and imagin yourself so beautiful as they, b/c you truly are beautiful. you are woman.

I really like this song - she's true to who she is, and openly admits she doesn't always follow the "rules" to being a girl. I like that!

this is one of the only songs on mainstream radio that i hear more than once that has a message that i love. it is a true shame that there are not more songs with a message that is so needed in this britney spears world of today.

I absolutely love this song! The first time I heard it I didn't really like it, but then my friend downloaded and I actually listened to the words. This is a very powerful song and it sends a great message. My friend and I say that it's our anthem.=)

I absolutely LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!! it makes me feel proud to be a girl, and how i don't have to follow the "supermodel" standards. This song is about being true to yourself, and not caring about what society and the media wants you to look like. Who cares if you go days without shaving, and you don't wear makeup EVERY FREAKIN' DAY!! Whatever floats your boat!! I love this song, and everytime i hear it, it makes me feel proud of who i am. it should be every woman's "anthem". hehe :)

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
