Pull Me Under

Yep. This song is fo-sho based on Hamlet.

Reason 1 : "watch the sparrow falling . . ." Hamlet refers to the death of his father as a falling sparrow.

Reason 2 : "all that I feel is honor and spite / all I can do is set it right" takes from the line "O cursed spite that ever I was made to set it right."

Reason 3 : "living my life too much in the sun" is another line that's take almost directly from the play (a clever little pun) "Not so, my lord. I am too much in the sun"

Reason 4 : "only until your will is done." Hamlet is basically about a prince doing the will of his dead father: seeking revenge on his murderer.

Reason 5 : "I'll take seven lives for one" is referring to how Hamlet only intends to avenge his father's murder by killing his guilty uncle, but in the process, seven lives are taken. (Polonius, Ophelia, Laertes, Gertrude, Claudius, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern)

That about settles it. Awesome song, though, eh?

How do I correct lyrics? I happen to be 100% sure that these lyrics have a few mistakes.

For instance where it says "Pull me under, pull me under, pull me under, I'm not afraid..." There should be a semi-colon as opposed to a comma between the third "Pull me under" and "I'm not afraid".

Also in the correct lyrics he doesn't sing "Orders fly and I fall again" he sings "Others fly and I fall again"

Thirdly where it reads: "This world is spinning around me The whole world keeps spinning around me All life is future to past Every breath leaves me one less to my last" In the correct version the word "and" is between "spinning around me" and "all life is..."

Lastly where it reads: "All that I feel is honor and spite All I can do is set it right" It should read "honor and spite All I can do is to set it right". Note the "to" between "is and "set".

I know some people may be skeptical about these lyrics, and the last one doesn't sound correct to me as well, however these lyrics are the correct ones.

This song is about hamlet. It's told from Prince Hamlet's point of view. It;s about his feeling to get revenge. in the end he sings a quote from the book

"Oh that this too, too solid flesh would melt"

I remember hearing this song on the radio when it first came out. It got lots of play on KLOS 95.5 in So. Cal. I would hear it at the gym almost every night. I remember thinking, "that's the best thing Iv'e ever heard". A friend that I worked-out with worked at a record company. His job was to go around to all the clubs and find music talent. We went to a Dream Theater concert and I have been a fan ever since. They have a song for every mood I am in and I never get tired of their music. I can't say that about anyone else.
