You should have seen by the look in my eyes, baby
There was somethin' missin'
You should have known by the tone of my voice, maybe
But you didn't listen
You played dead, but you never bled
Instead you laid still in the grass, all coiled up and hissin'

And though I know all about those men
Still I don't remember
'Cause it was us
Baby, way before them, and we're still together
And I meant
Every word I said
When I said that I love you I meant that I love you forever

And I'm gonna keep on lovin' you
'Cause it's the only thing I wanna do
I don't wanna sleep, I just wanna keep on lovin' you

And I meant
Every word I said
When I said that I love you I meant that I love you forever

And I'm gonna keep on lovin' you
'Cause it's the only thing I wanna do
I don't wanna sleep, I just wanna keep on lovin' you

Baby, I'm gonna keep on loving you
'Cause it's the only thing I wanna do
I don't wanna sleep, I just wanna keep on lovin' you

As lovely as this song may seem, if you listen to it close enough, its about a loser who can't get over some girl who screwed around one too many times..

You should've seen by the look in my eyes, baby There was somethin missin (He thought she was the one to truly complete him SPOILER ALERT HE WAS WRONG)

You should've known by the tone of my voice, maybe But you didn't listen (She doesn't really give a damn what he has to say to her)

You played dead But you never bled Instead you lay still in the grass All coiled up and hissin (Okay, now think about this one...still thinking? Okay, now shes basically telling him "sorry, not tonight, I'm on my period" and still continues to bitch at him over nothing)

And though I know all about those men Still I don't remember Cause it was us baby, way before then And we're still together (Wait, now this bitch is cheating? You best be joking **. Oh, and SPOILER ALERT he still puts up with it while not getting any)

And I meant, every word I said When I said that I love you I meant That I love you forever (Taking it a little to far my sexually deprived friend. What is this I don't even)

And I'm gonna keep on lovin you Cause it's the only thing I wanna do I don't wanna sleep I just wanna keep on lovin you (tl;dr no matter how much shit this girl gives this poor guy he still wants to be with her for god knows what reason)

Hope I didn't ruin that 80's classic for everyone.

Its about a guy who's girl cheated on him or maybe they broke up and she whored around for a bit "And though I know all about those men Still I don't remember" But he still loves her and he's not going to let that change his feelings for her "Cause it was us baby, way before then And we're still together" And he's willing to work things out because he loves her ♥ "And I meant, every word I said When I said that I love you I meant That I love you forever"

♥If a guy said those words to me I would die!♥

she cheated on him so many times but he just can't let her go, eventhough she broke his heart he is willing to give it another try

He loves her so much and she is the only thing he wants, eventhough he knows that she doesn't love him the same way.

    a very good song

Okay, for all you folks out there who want an in depth meaning to the song, well lucky fer yewww I'll be the first to explain this damn song properly, finally.

Basically what this song means, is in fact, about his girl cheating on him(in reports Kevin Cronin lead vocals), but he still, and WILL continue to love and be with her.

"You should've seen by the look in my eyes, baby There was somethin missin You should've known by the tone of my voice, maybe But you didn't listen"

This basically plays on the fact that he was really hurt by her actions, and she didnt realise just, by how much.

"You played dead But you never bled"

Right, this part of the song, shows how inconsistent her stories were, and that he kinda had a gut feeling she wasn't giving him the whole picture , eg.the cheating

Instead you lay still in the grass All coiled up and hissin"

She hoped that the suspicions would quickly pass over "lay still in the grass" "all coiled up and hissin" and also, stayed on the defensive, arguing with him perpetually so on so forth maybe also because of her guilty conscious.

"And though I know all about those men Still I don't remember"

He goes straight to it now, he tells her he knows, and yet metaphorically doesnt remember, or simply put, "chooses" not to remember eg. forgive

"Cause it was us baby, way before then And we're still together"

He is showing her what the two of them are made of, that reltionships like their's did not grow on trees, but were truly meant to be.(hey that rhymed) And even after all that, the growing pains and hurt, they're both..ermm...STILL TOGETHER

"And I meant, every word I said When I said that I love you I meant That I love you forever"

And he meant, every word he saidd

"And I'm gonna keep on lovin you Cause it's the only thing I wanna do I don't wanna sleep I just wanna keep on lovin you"

There is nothing in the world he would rather do more, than that, to love her, forever, and ever.. Amen.

So yeah, thats about covers it, and that my friends, is "Keep on Lovin' you", interpreted.

To me, the writer is confronting his lover who cheated. He's knows it over, but he can't turn his feeling off like a switch. Unitl he is over her, he is not.

I just created an account so I could post on this song. I was reading the lyrics on here, and waiting for the vid to download on youtube, and very second I clicked the youtube link. The song came on the radio here at work. It was kinda creepy.

I too think it is about knowing he was being cheated on, he had to move on, but he still loves her. It is about dealing with those feelings of letting her go, one of the hardest things to do.

Ironically I am in the same situation. I had to tell her I loved her, but that I never want to see her ever again. Probably the hardest thing I've ever done in all of my life. She has driven me crazy for over half of my life, and I am 27 today. So it's been a long time.

Ironically all of the good Journey hits are about the same thing. Love being lost.

I'm very naive, but I thought "never bled" meant that he thought she had been a virgin.

I know these lyrics have been interpreted by lots of people already, but I think of the lyrics this way:

The singer is a man who is in a relationship with a woman who has either cheated on him, or slept around a lot. (And though I know all about those men Still I don't remember 'Cause it was us Baby, way before them, and we're still together) He has long since forgiven her, and they have apparently maintained their relationship. It might also allude to the couple’s relationship having been longer than any of said woman’s conquests.

The singer then affirms that he still loves the woman despite all this. (And I meant Every word I said When I said that I love you I meant that I love you forever

And I'm gonna keep on lovin' you 'Cause it's the only thing I wanna do I don't wanna sleep, I just wanna keep on lovin' you)

Also the bit about her being “coiled up and hissin’) is probably how she had been defensive and lying about her cheating. Perhaps the singer should have broken up with the woman, but it’s honestly the forgiveness and love that he has for her that he still stands by. The relationship doesn’t seem to be over, because the woman probably became more upfront and honest. The couple works things out in the end.

That’s what I think this classic hit means. Love REO!

i love this song, REO is great, but it doesnt make a lot of sense...cause in the first stanza hes saying how something is missing and stuff, and then hes saying hes gonna keep on loving her. if he is missing feelings for her, why is he going to keep loving her??

I think he is saying that BEFORE he met her, there was something missing in his life, namely the feelings of love. Now that he has experienced what it feels like, he will never stop loving her.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
