My god sits in the back of the limousine
My god comes in a wrapper of cellophane
My god pouts on the cover of the magazine
My god's a shallow little bitch trying to make the scene

I have arrived and this time you should believe the hype
I listened to everyone, now I know that everyone was right
I'll be there for you as long as it works for me
I play a game, it's called insincerity

Starfuckers
Starfuckers
Starfuckers, incorporated
Starfuckers

I am every fucking thing and just a little more
I sold my soul but don't you dare call me a whore
And when I suck you off not a drop will go to waste
It's really not so bad, you know
Once you get past the taste, yeah (ass kisser)

Starfuckers
Starfuckers
Starfuckers, incorporated
Starfuckers

Starfuckers
Starfuckers
Starfuckers, incorporated
Starfuckers

All our pain
How did you think we'd get by without you?
You're so vain
I bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? Don't you?
Don't you? Don't you?
Don't you? Don't you?
Don't you? Don't you?
Don't you?

Starfuckers
Starfuckers
Starfuckers
Starfuckers, incorporated

Starfuckers (starfuckers)
Starfuckers (starfuckers)
Starfuckers
Starfuckers, incorporated
Starfuckers
Starfuckers

Now I belong, I'm one of the chosen ones (starfuckers)
Now I belong, I'm one of the chosen ones (starfuckers)

Now I belong, I'm one of the chosen ones (starfuckers, incorporated)
(Starfuckers) now I belong, I'm one of the beautiful ones (starfuckers, starfuckers, incorporated)

I find it ironic how so many NIN fans refer to Trent as "a god" and then they come in here proclaiming this a song about celebrity worship.

    It's about idealizing, the famous(Stars).

"my god sits in the back of the limousine my god comes in a wrapper of cellophane my god pouts on the cover of the magazine my god's a shallow little bitch trying to make the scene"

First, "My God" idealizing already, first two words of the song. Through out the song "My God" is referring to the Star. "my god sits in the back of the limousine". Showing "My God" is sitting in a limousine, showing they're famous. "my god comes in a wrapper of cellophane". Wraped in cellophane, show that their, God, is fake. "my god pouts on the cover of the magazine". Being famous, once again, they're always on the cover of the magazine, they always come first. "my god's a shallow little bitch trying to make the scene". Showing they are fucking shallow bitches simply trying to make a scene, to get noticed. Always doing it for the poplularity, nothing else.

"i have arrived and this time you should believe the hype i listened to everyone now i know that everyone was right i'll be there for you as long as it works for me i play a game it's called insincerity"

When he's talking about "I" here, he is talking about the shallow star(Himself? More on this later). "i have arrived and this time you should believe the hype". The star is here, and you SHOULD believe that the star is all powerful, knows everything, worship me, and only ME(Like God, see above). "i listened to everyone now i know that everyone was right". I listened to everyone, and found out that everyone was right, about being all powerful as a star. Like I am now, I am a star. "i'll be there for you as long as it works for me". I'll always be there for you, the star will always be there, as long as if works for them, thoes shallow selfish stars...

Well there is the bell, I'll finish it up when I ger home from school today, until then...Peace

Starfuckers was orignally a word used in a Tori Amos song "Professional Widow" So maybe Trent got the idea from that, I do not know..

in reference to the comment by ssiprincessbura, trent most likely did not get the idea from tori amos but from hanzel und gretyl. on their 1997 release, transmissions from uranus, they've got a track called "starfer" (track 10), which sounds an AWFUL lot like starfuckers, inc. methinks this is where he got the "idea" for the song. i heard the nin version first, and i stumbled upon this album (which is really, really good if you're into tongue-in-cheek industrial techno), and when i heard that song, i got this sense of shock, much like when toto pulled back the curtain to reveal the "GREAT AND POWERFUL OZ". so far, i can tell that "starfuckers, inc." was "borrowed" from hanzel und gretyl's "starfer", "a warm place" was "borrowed" from philip glass's "koyaanisqatsi", and trent freely admits to borrowing from skinny puppy's "dig it" to make "down in it". any other songs that sound "similar" to nin songs?

No matter where the word "Starfucker" originally comes from - the reference is an interesting one: It was rumoured the lyrics of "Professional Widow" accuse Courtney Love of the murder of her husband, Curt Cobain. Considering Tori's friendship to Trent Reznor, there really might be a connection here, even if Tori Amos has stated several times that this wasn't the intention of the song.

wow, this is more than coincidence. NuMetalGamer you act like you know what your talking about, i'm going with you. all that does make sense though. i think "now i belong i'm one of the chosen ones" means he is a star now too. thats pretty obvious though.

Ok first of all there are way to many links to Tori Amos and her Professional Widow song for that to not be on porpouse. Trent Reznor and Tori Amos have been good freinds for quite some time and even dated for a while. This being said, there is no way him using Starfucker as the title, and Starfucker being used in one of her songs, could be a coincidence. That had to be in his mind when he chose that. Also it was rumored that Courtney Love was the reason they broke up (making her queen fucking bitch, because they would have made some KICK ASS music together). Rumor also has it that Profession Widow is about Courtney love and her killing Kurt Kobain. In the Starfucker music video during the, "all the pain how did you think we'd get by without you? you're so vain i'll bet you think this song is about you", part it has video of someone that looks a TON like Courtney Love. Trent Reznor has also been quoted on his disdain for courtney Love. I think Starfuckers attacks most of the people Reznor hated at the time, Marilyn Manson, self absorbed stars, and most of all Courtney Love (for ruining things between him and Tori Amos).

Also another note. Reznor seems to be going after himself alot in this one too. In the music video he smashes a plate with his picture, and throws some of his won albums in a toilet. USing Starfucker as his title (referinhg to the tori amos song refering to courtney love) is kind of a way of him insulting himself aggain. I think Reznor relized that he messed thigns up between himself and Amos by having anything to do with Courtney love. ALso note that after dating Courtney Love and Tori AMos hating that whole relationship (many references in the Boys for pele album) He did not release anything new for quite some time and became a very bad alcoholic, and supposedly very much into Heroin also. IN many interviews hes said that he had to fight off some adictions and gets some things in order and thats why it took him 6 years to relases the next album. Back to the main point, that song was written right before be took a 6 year break right after ruining things with Tori Amos, (which it seems he blamed on himself, thus making him hate himself)

    Song Meaning

Written by Trent Reznor and Charlie Clouser, "Starfuckers, Inc." is one of the heaviest songs on The Fragile. The chorus is built on heavy metal guitars and massed, shouted choruses. The verses feature breakbeats, deep bass hits, and glitchy, stuttering vocals. The outro introduces more synthesizers, distortion and sound effects.

"Starfuckers, Inc." deals with the self-involved vanity and shallow commercialization of fame.[1] The song directly references "You're So Vain", Carly Simon's ode to a self-absorbed lover, by quoting the chorus:

You're so vain I bet you think this song is about you Don't you? These lyrics were changed for the video version of "Starsuckers, Inc." to:

Overplayed And soon you'll make us forget about you Won't you? Other than Marilyn Manson, the lyrics are often speculated to be directed towards Courtney Love. The video version of "Starfuckers, Inc." has change to "Starsuckers, Inc.". The word "Starfucker" may have been taken from the The Rolling Stones song "Star Star" (original title "Starfucker") which appeared on their 1973 album Goats Head Soup[2] or more likely from the song "Professional Widow", also rumoured to be about Love, by Tori Amos, to whom Reznor was close prior to what he refers to as "some malicious meddling on the part of Courtney Love"[3].

The song was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 2000.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
