So you sailed away
Into a gray sky morning.
Now I'm here to stay,
Love can be so boring.
Nothing quite the same now,
I just say your name now.

But its not so bad,
You're only the best
I ever had.
You don't want me back.
You're just the best
I ever had.

So you stole my world,
Now I'm just a phony.
Remembering the girl
Leaves me down and lonely.
Sending in the weather
Make yourself feel better.

But it's not so bad,
You're only the best
I ever had.
You don't need me back.
You're just the best
I ever had.

And it may take some time
To patch me up inside.
But I can't take it
So I run away and hide.
And I may find in time
That you were always right.
You're always right.

So you sailed away,
Into a gray sky morning.
Now I'm here to stay,
Love can be so boring.
What was it you wanted?
Could it be you're haunted?

But its not so bad,
You're only the best
I ever had.
I don't want you back.
You're just the best
I ever had.

The best I ever had.
Best I ever had.

Call me crazy, but I've always thought of this song being about two people who might have been together for a while, and where really in love in the beginning, and then just kind of grew apart. They went through the motions for a while, it didn't work out and they regret that fact, but realised nothing could be done to change it.

This song means expresses the feelings of loss in a relationship. There will come a time in the lives of every person wherein they'll meet a person., a special someone who changes the way they look at things and gives meaning to their lonely world. Someone who understands them more than the people around. It hurts when the person is like your family. They fill in what you're lacking in your life. They take away your loneliness and feelings of emptiness. You have a special connection to this person more than anyone in this world. You developed a "deep" relationship. Since that day that person left you, you never met someone like him. You compare everyone you meet with him but just realize in the end that it's still him that you're missing. It's still him that you love. In short, he's still the best you ever had.

After that relationship, you may experience feelings of denial, but there will come a time wherein you'll understand everything better. You will realize that the end of your relationship means the start of something new. It may take some time though, but you'll get there... Surely you will... :)

When you let go of what you have, you become what you are.... :)

    My Interpretation

Best I Ever Had by Vertical Horizon The song actually reminds us of something or someone we had in our life once and they just can’t stay forever. It hurts when the best you ever had has “sailed away”. It shows the stages one will go through. Dealing with the other not wanting you, then not having a need for you. What probably remain in you were memories to deal with, and you know that things will never be the same again. I think the hardest part was the denial stage as mentioned in the lyrics “I don’t want you back”, telling yourself that you’re okay, trying to believe that you’re okay but honestly you are not. Maybe the meaning of this song is getting over with someone, dealing with your loss but I think the most painful is the last part of the lyrics because it makes you see how all that you can do for yourself is to be in denial especially when that’s the best you ever had-“Well it’s not so bad”. And you know that probably getting over with someone is a long process, “it may take some time to patch me up inside”, “I can’t take it so I ran away and hide” and all you can do was try to deal and carry on with it. Well, the song is painful to listen especially if it reminds you of something- a person, a thing, or a situation you been through with. This maybe one of the saddest songs I’ve ever heard and I came across this song while browsing the contents of my laptop. Something about this song made me a little bit nostalgic and will always remind me of a friend because we always love to listen to this song. And whenever I hear this song I came close to remember someone whom I also consider the “best I ever had”

this song is great. to me it's saying 'hey, who cares if you don't want me anymore? i don't. it's just you're the best person i've ever been with' kinda in a sarcastic way. he's trying to give the impression that he doesn't care, but in reality, it hurts him really bad.

I think its about feeling like you screwed up the relationship but you don't want to be hurt again so your giving up and don't want them back even though they're the best you ever had

To me it's about two people that were in a relationship and one of them had to go away somewhere so they ended it. The other person didn't want this to happen and asks him/her back. When they refuse they decide that they just has to live with it In the end it is better to have loved and lost then to never have loved at all. And although it's hard right now they'll just have to get over it. They can't see it right now but maybee in time they'll come to relise the other person was right and it was best to end the relationship.

To me it's someone pretending not to care that the relationship is over, even though they really still do care about the person.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
