Brushing, touching, feeling on your shoulders,
Believing, appealing, kneeling in your worlds,
Oceans are combined,

Being that I love you so much
In the end they all will say
Breaking someone elses heart again,

Find the little evil perpetrator
And feed him to the hungry alligator
You want it all,
You want it all,
Love is not about the profits
Nor the riches in your dreams,

The arms of time are breaking off,
Civilization is on trial,
The clocks eliminating time
Do you believe in me

Ive been walking through these dead farms
But I don't mind,
Ive been screaming through these dead
lungs,
But I cant find,

Being that I love you so much
In the end they all will say
Breaking someone elses heart again,

Find the little evil perpetrator
And feed her to the hungry alligator
You want it all,
You want it all,
Love is not about the profits
Nor the riches in your dreams,

The arms of time are breaking off,
Civilization is on trial,
The clocks eliminating time
Do you believe, in me

But lately Ive been blind
You leave me all alone, left in time,
You left me here to die, left in time,
Leave me all alone, left in time,

The arms of time are breaking off,
Civilization is on trial,
The clocks eliminating time
Do you believe in nothing.

But lately Ive been blind
Leave me all alone, left in time..

The meaning of this song isn't to hard to figure out if you know some of Serj's life. I always wondered why SOAD never had many love songs or relationship songs if you can even count the chorus of Prison Song, Roulette or Streamline as those type of songs, most bands this is all they write. Though all of Serj's or System's songs have dual meanings or even multi meanings for one song, this is the closest to just having really one meaning. Anyway back to the song, apparently sometime after System's first album was released Serj went through a divorce. The proof of this is still debate-able though, the lyrical book that came along with it makes references to it, and also some songs to on the CD as well.

The title Beethovens C*** alludes to his former lover (a composers girl). Most of the lyrics of the songs is self explanatory but here is where most fans defer in the meaning of the streamline guitar solo in this song. Some say he threw it in for the fans, I agree with others that it alludes to the actual song and that he was able to see through the streamline and that he actually loves her. Too bad though, she doesn't love him. Easily one of Serj's best, great song.

Okay peeps, gather round papa here. Yeah I know i'm late to the race, but what the hell, better late than never right?

Okay so first off like many others have already stated before me, thanks jackasses(jk btw), this is a multi-layered song. It may have to do with Serj's past love, i don't know, i don't know him therefore cannot ask. Okay anyway i just want it to be known that the other lead singer from System, Daron Vartan Malakian said, "Politics, for me, is a reflection of the world I live in. But love is just as important as politics to me. They both exist in the world, you know?" and i know he's not Serj, but some of these ideas must have been tossed around right?

So anyway, i think this song is geared toward the bettering of mankind, like many of Serj's songs... So anyway i'll give my proofs

1)"Brushing, touching, feeling on your shoulders, Believing, appealing, kneeling in your worlds, Oceans are combined..." may very well mean world connection, hopefully this wasn't thought up before me.

    2) "Being that I love you so much, In the end they all will say, Breaking someone else's heart again..." Could be the instant dislike of those they love our loved ones, and how we think that if someone is loving our loved one that it's selfish and we usually think the worst of them.

3)"Find the little evil perpetrator, And feed him to the hungry alligator" Could very well be the instant demonization of someone who's done something "bad". Such as war criminals such as those from Iraq and the Taliban. I'm not saying that Talibani are correct, but are we in our persucution of them. Their just doing what they think is right, and so do we. But i think we're both wrong, with "we" meaning the u.s. society.

    4) "You want it all, You want it all, Love is not about profits, Nor the riches in your dreams..." This is the easiest to decipher I think. It references the Neo-european greed, such as england, the U.S. and even Australia.

5)"The arms of time are breaking off, Civilization is on trail, The clocks eliminating time, Do you believe in me..." This could very well describe how the issue of Pulling out or Staying in the middle east is coming to a head and "The Arms of Time Are Breaking Off" meaning that until then we can't really do a damn thing. We need to make a decision, but because "Civilization is on trial" and "The Clocks Eliminating Time" We have yet to make a decision.

6)"I've been walking through these dead farms, But I don't mind, I've been screaming through these dead lungs, But I can't find..." These are easy, He's finding only death, and he tries to warn us, but none are listening.

7)"But lately I've been blind, You leave me all alone, left in time,You left me here to die, left in time, Leave me all alone, left in time..." Lately he's been blind i think refers to his molding of political minds being as he was on hiatus from SOAD and then it took him a while to come out with a solo album, and we just let him stay there, left in time. Now the leave me alone may very well be a fear that it may happen again, that we could forget Serj Tankian, i'm not sure this is the hardest line.

Well that's it's, that's what I think. I could very well be completely wrong, but I don't think i am...By the way this was written by an 18 yr. old kid. Can ya believe it?

i think the song is about love and how it can affect various people like the person who is breaking other peoples hearts as in rejecting them because they love another " Being that I love you so much in the end they all will say breaking someone elses heart again" Also the golddigger who just "loves" for the money "Find the little evil perpetrator, And feed her to the hungry alligator, You want it all, You want it all, Love is not about profits, Nor the riches in your dreams..."

also how time doesnt seem to matter to the infatuated one "The arms of time are breaking off Civilization is on trial The clocks eliminating time Do you believe in me"

and the heartbroken one who is depressed over being dumped

"But lately ive been blind you leave me all alone left in time"

And does the solo in this song similar to the one in thetawaves?

I see how it relates to love...mostly. The corus (which sounds so smooth and creepy, gives me goosebumps) dos'nt seem at all relevent to love.

"The arms of time are breaking off, Civilization is on trial, The clocks eliminating time, Do you believe, in me..."

Sounds more like he's insinuating that over time, love is beginning to rot society? Maybe. Like to here your opinion.

i believe its mostly about the corruption within our capitalist society (as is most of the album). he's saying that the corporate world is ruining the true beauty of things, even love, and we point the finger at anyone just to shift the blame.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
