Finally the hills are without eyes
They are tired of painting a dead man's face red
With their own blood

They used to love having so much to lose
Blink your eyes just once and see everything in ruins

Did you ever hear what I told you?
Did you ever read what I wrote you?
Did you ever listen to what we played?
Did you ever let in what the world said?
Did we get this far just to feel your hate?
Did we play to become only pawns in the game?
How blind can you be, don't you see?
You chose the long road but we'll be waiting

Bye bye beautiful
Bye bye beautiful

Jacob's ghost for the girl in white
Blindfold for the blind
Dead siblings walking the dying earth
Noose around a choking heart
Eternity torn apart
Slow toll now the funeral bells

I need to die to feel alive

Did you ever hear what I told you?
Did you ever read what I wrote you?
Did you ever listen to what we played?
Did you ever let in what the world said?
Did we get this far just to feel your hate?
Did we play to become only pawns in the game?
How blind can you be, don't you see?
You chose the long road but we'll be waiting

Bye bye beautiful
Bye bye beautiful
(Bye bye beautiful)
(Bye bye beautiful)

It's not the tree that forsakes the flower
But the flower that forsakes the tree
Someday I'll learn to love these scars
Still fresh from the red-hot blade of your words

(How blind can you be, don't you see?)
(How blind can you be, don't you see?)
(How blind can you be, don't you see?)
(That the gambler lost all he does not have)

Did you ever hear what I told you?
Did you ever read what I wrote you?
Did you ever listen to what we played?
Did you ever let in what the world said?
Did we get this far just to feel your hate?
Did we play to become only pawns in the game?
How blind can you be, don't you see?
You chose the long road but we'll be waiting

Bye bye beautiful
Bye bye beautiful
Bye bye beautiful
Bye bye bye bye

This is about Tarja.I guess Tuomas felt something for her (on End of an era concert,he almost started cryin while they were playing ''Ever dream,I guess even that song is about her...and Marcello,Tarja's huseband said in an interview that Tuomas was jelous when he married Tarja)In this song he's asking her did she ever felt something for the time they spent togetther in the band .''Did you ever read what I wrote you'',this line is probably about the lyrics of the songs. He used to writte beautiful songs, hoping that she might understand them one day and see how big is his love for her....poor Tuomas.I want a guy just like him.I guess Tarja was blind

That's bullshit. Toumas did not love Tarja. Even if he did, this song is not about loving or not loving someone. It's about wanting to know that the years they spent together were NOT a waste. "Did you ever read what I wrote you? Did you ever listen to the words we played?" Does all of it mean NOTHING to you? I think he gets so angry and asks the questions in such an angry way because he wants to spark her into an answer. He wants her to get so angry back that she yells, "Of course it meant something to me!" He's asking a question he already knows the answer to, just for the comfort of hearing her say it. That's what I think anyway. It's also interesting to note that the line "it's not the tree that forsakes the flower, but the flower that forsakes the tree" is from the book The Count of Monte Cristo and what the count actually says is "I will never go away from you but you are free to leave me at any time. It's not the tree that forsakes the flower but the flower that leaves the tree." Why Toumas would include that in his ANGRY song is beyond me.

Oops, sorry, "Red with their own blood".

I know this song is about Tarja, but I don't think this song is necessarily about Tuomas loving Tarja, more about how her attitude toward the music had apparently changed, etc.

while i believe bye bye beautiful is certainly about tarja, it's not necessarily about him "loving" tarja, as neoflame said; it's more about how tarja failed to understand what he and the other guys cherish the most and chose a road (commercial?) that he and other guys cannot take. it's about all the guys towards tarja, just like in the open letter. come to think about it, in the documentary that came with 'end of an era', jukka was so bitter about having to cancel the US second-leg tour just because tarja thought it made no commercial sense...

hehe owned. i must say i like anette's voice more and more. its hardly country-rock... i also dont believe tuomas actually romantically loved tarja, this is just a farewell song plain and simple. we all know there was a bit of a bad feeling between tarja and the res of the band at the end, it comes through in these lyrics i guess. its a bit ironic that anette sings it though... hehe. im also enjoying marco's voice much more. he can actually sing pretty damn well.

"It's not the tree that forsakes the flower , but the flower that forsakes the tree," is a line from Monte Cristo. Obviously, it was "borrowed" by Nightwish and not the other way around.

In context, it was used by the Count himself and was in reference to a beautiful young slave who he treated as a daughter and friend, not really romantically.

How sad! Why couldn't Toumas just tell tarja that the songs was written for her (if they are) instead of hoping that she would realise? I know all the nightwish lyrics by heart, and have been listening to them ever since i i bought my first CD, but i would never have guessed! That would be a much happier ending! MAybe a nightwish wedding instead of crappy-countryrock-voiced Anette...

love the rythem and the power it gives, but not the "bye, Bye Beautiful" spoken part (sounds different then what "i'm" expecting)

    Still a great song

Tarja will be missed; but im liking Annettes' voice

I'm pretty sure the lyrics don't just say "bye bye beautiful." Nightwish's website only lists the line once, but you can clearly hear "bye bye beautiful, die die beautiful" at the end of the chorus.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
