There'll be girls across the nation
That will eat this up babe
I know that it's your soul but could you bottle it up and
Get down to the heart of it,
No it's my heart you're shit out of your luck
Don't make me tell you again my love love love love.
Love love love love.

I am aiming to be somebody this somebody trusts
With her delicate soul
I don't claim to know much except soon as you start
To make room for the parts
That aren't you it gets harder to bloom in a garden of
Love love love love
Love Love love love

Only thing I ever could need, only one good thing
Worth trying to be and it's

Love, love
Love, love
I do it for love
Love, love
Love

We can understand the sentiment you're saying to us
Oh, but sensible sells so could you kindly shut up
And get started
At keeping your part of the bargain aw please
Little darlin'
You're killing me sweetly with love love love love
Love love love love

Only thing I ever could need only one good thing
Worth trying to be

And its love, love
Love, love
I do it for love
Love, love
Love

Started as a flicker meant to be a flame
Skin has gotten thicker but it burns the same
Still a baby in a cradle got to take my first fall
Baby's getting next to nowhere
with her baack against the wall.
You meant to make me happy make me sad.
Want to make it better better so bad.
But save your resolutions for your never new year
There is only one solution I can see here.

Love you're all I ever could need only one good thing
Worth trying to be and it's
Love, love
Love, love
I do it for love, love, love, love
Oh, only gonna get, get what you give away,
Love, love, love, love

I love... love... love... this new artist. Sara Bareilles is gonna go far with her amazing lyrics and catchy tunes (almost Fiona Apple-ish.. but still with her own sound).

"I am aiming to be somebody this somebody trusts with her delicate soul I don’t claim to know much except soon as you start to make room for the parts that aren’t you it gets harder to bloom in a garden of love"

    great.

Sorry to burst everyone's interpretation that wasn't about the record label, but here is the truth...

well i think this song tells us about she wants her bf to get himself together, and act normally as a person in love would do (she wants her bf to bottle their love up, so it would remind him every time he wants to do stupid things).

"There'll be girls across the nation that will eat this up babe I know that it's your soul but could you bottle it up and" (he might be some playboy or something, she asks him to at least behaving on behalf of their loves)

"Get down to the heart of it, no it's my heart you're shit out of your luck Don't make me tell you again my love love love love" (she is hurt when he's fooling around or something, so she reminds him about the love that they have together)

"I am aiming to be somebody this somebody trusts with her delicate soul I don't claim to know much except soon as you start to make room for the parts That aren't you it gets harder to bloom in a garden of love love love love" (she tells him, that it used to be an easy job for her to trust someone without asking many things or being someone that's possessive, but she demands him to at least don't do stupid things that can break them up)

"Only thing I ever could need, only one good thing worth trying to be and it's Love, Love, Love, Love I do it for love" (she only stays with him because she believes in the love that they have, if the love wasn't there, she definitely has gotten out from this relationship)

"We can understand the sentiment you're saying to us oh, But sensible sells so could you kindly shut up and get started At keeping your part of the bargain aw please little darlin' You're killing me sweetly with love, love love love Love love love love" (she once again reminds him to do his errands because she's already worked hard to make them happen, but she doesn't want to work alone because she needs him to work this love too, but somehow no matter how mad she is, he's still able to kill her with the love she feels when she's with him)

"Started as a flicker meant to be a flame" (he's making a big deal out of something)

"Skin has gotten thicker but it burns the same" (it happens all the time, but it still hurts for her)

"Still a baby in a cradle got to take my first fall" (she's almost decided to break it up with him)

"Baby's getting next to nowhere with a back against the wall." (but then again love wins this fight, and she's back to square one, being with him only holding on to love only, and expect plus wishing that he can understand that and changed)

"You meant to make me happy make me sad Want to make it better better so bad. But save your resolutions for your never new year There is only one solution I can see here. Love you're all I ever could need only one good thing worth trying to be and it's Love" (he always do mistakes, and she asks him to at least bottle the love up so he can use it and act nicely so they can work out, because love it's the only thing that worth to try)

"Oh, only gonna get get what you give away, so give love, love Only gonna get get what you give away Love " (she wants him to return the favor she gives for him, she gives all the love she has, but she wants something back which is love from him by showing it to her by his behavior)

well i hope this interpretation was right :)

It's about her record only wanting her to write love songs. Just like "love song."

I really do adore this song :) It's a nice take on love, one i fit with in some ways.

But, getting to the meaning, I think it's pretty clear. That despite everything, love is what makes the world go round, and everything else worth it. It's the only thing to be! Love :)

hmm. to me this song talks about a guy who's too emotional and she's telling him to "bottle it up" and just say what he has to say (Get down to the heart of it). also he keeps telling her i love you and of course she has to say it back (Don’t make me tell you again my love love love love).

then he changes somehow (as you start to make room for the parts That aren’t you it gets harder to bloom in a garden of love ) and she finds it hard to love him and but she'll go with it for love (I do it for Love).

i'm not sure but i think that in the third part he gets sentimental again and she want's him to shut up and keep to his part of the bargain [maybe a deal that she made with him to stop being emotional and she'll stay in the realtionship ?] and that he's suffocating her with his emontional love

his emotionalness get worse and worse (Started as a flicker meant to be a flame) and even though she's used to it, it still bugs her (Skin has gotten thicker but it burns the same). she's still new at this realtionship thing and she knows she might have to break up with him (Still a baby in a cradle got to take my first fall) but she can't seem to ( Baby’s getting next to nowhere with a back against the wall) He tries to make things better and fix up the problems but just ended up makeing things worse (You meant to make me happy make me sad, Want to make it better better so bad) he promises to stop being emotional but she knows he's not going to follow through and doesn't wanna hear it (But save your resolutions for your never new year) she finally realizes that there's only one thing she can do, leave him (There is only one solution I can see here)

at the end she says to him that he's all she ever needed but he shouldn't have to change for her and there's only one thing worth tryin to be [yourself] (Love you’re all I ever could need only one good thing worth trying to be) she loves him but it's not working out so instead of being stupid and tring to change him, she's going to leave [for love] and what goes around comes around (Oh, only gonna get get what you give away, so give love, love)

    :D

It's another "industry is trying to get her to sell herself"" song. Hence the, "There'll be girls across the nation that want to eat this up."

To expand on lilith3's point, the song also says "But sensible sells so could you kindly shut up and get started At keeping your part of the bargain".

Also, when I got to see her perform live, I remember her saying writing a song after being upset with the record label...now I don't remember exactly if it was for this song, but I guess it could be...

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
