I got a lot to say to you
Yeah I got a lot to say
I noticed your eyes are always glued to me
Keeping them here and it makes no sense at all

They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
Your little spies
They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
Your little spies

Crush, crush, crush, crush, crush (two, three, four)

Nothing compares to a quiet evening alone
Just the one two of us is counting on
That never happens, I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than, this

If you wanna play it like a game
Well come on, come on let's play
'Cause I'd rather waste my life pretending
Than have to forget you for one whole minute

They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
Your little spies
They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
Your little spies

Crush, crush, crush, crush, crush (two, three, four)

Nothing compares to a quiet evening alone
Just the one two of us is counting on
That never happens, I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than, this now

Rock and roll baby, don't you know that
We're all alone now, I need something to sing about
Rock and roll honey, don't you know baby
We're all alone now, I need something to sing about
Rock and roll honey, don't you know baby
We're all alone now, give me something to sing about

Nothing compares to a quiet evening alone
Just the one two of us is counting on
That never happens, I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than, no

Nothing compares to a quiet evening alone
Just the one two of us is counting on
That never happens, I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than, more than this
Oh, oh, ooh

okay, im gonna try and explain what i get out of this song, line by line xD

I got a lot to say to you Yeah, I got a lot to say I noticed your eyes are always glued to me Keeping them here And it makes no sense at all

he obviously likes her, looks at her. but nothing more, therefore it makes no sence.

They taped over your mouth Scribbled out the truth with their lies, your little spies They taped over your mouth Scribbled out the truth with their lies, your little spies

his friends don't want him to say anything to her, and don't want them together for some reason.

Crush Crush Crush Crush, crush (Two, three, four!)

shes got a crush on him xD

Nothing compares to a quiet evening alone Just the one, two of us who's counting on That never happens I guess I'm dreaming again Let's be more than this

all she wants is to be alone with him but thats never gonna happen, cause he never does anything more to make it look like he wants her. she wants them to be together.

If you wanna play it like a game Well, come on, come on, let's play Cause I'd rather waste my life pretending Than have to forget you for one whole minute

so if he just plays with her mind, flirts with her. she's cool with that, cause its better than nothing.

Rock and roll, baby Don't you know that we're all alone now? I need something to sing about Rock and roll, hey Don't you know, baby, we're all alone now? I need something to sing about Rock and roll, hey Don't you know, baby, we're all alone now? Give me something to sing about

somehow shes managed to get alone with him, and his friends can't say anything or plant things in his head. she wants him to fall in love with her, she wants them to be together. so that she can have something REAL to sing about.

this is just what i got out of this song.. i can relate much to this song

I hate how much I can relate to this song. She has a crush on him and he likes her back, but he's in a position where he can't do anything about it. It's completely unfair to her, but she just wants to be with him, even if it means that their relationship stays platonic.

I think this is my favorite song from Riot. It sounds like she was in love with someone but that person doesn't see her anymore because of someone else that wrapped him up with lies.

i agree with gabbitastic, most of the song makes sense with the idea that she has a crush. playing it like a game is them flirting but nothing ever happens; it makes no sense that all he's doing is looking when they could be together; obviously, "let's be more than this"; and the one "two" she was counting on was.. them as a couple? maybe? hmm?

but i can't figure out who "they" are. i thought maybe it's about gossip, and "they taped over your mouth / scribbled out the truth with their lies / your little spies" might be like the people talking behind their backs about their little crush, and every time someone tells someone else, they warp the truth with their lies.

it's a stretch but it's really all i can think of!

I'd like to start by saying I LOVE and LIVE this song. It is definitely about a guy. You think he likes you one second, and then suddenly he drops you like a hot potato when his friends come around. It is about basically being fed up with the mixed messages and knowing if you could just get him alone for a few seconds you might be able to change his mind. She is basically saying fuck your mixed messages, if you wanna play a game, well i can play just as hard as you. AND THEN when she finally gets him alone she realizes she has nothing to talk about (or "sing" about). Well, my meaning is just one of many. oh and koishiiyume what the hell r u smoking buddy boy? Peace, Love, Bee.

i think she has a crush, and wants a nice "quiet evening alone" but he really doesn't like her back therefore she says "That never happens, I guess I'm dreaming again" i don't know thats just my guess on this and how i really see it. it could mean something totally different though.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
