Thursday night
Everything's fine
Except you've got that look in your eye
When I'm telling a story and you find it boring
You're thinking of something to say
You'll go along with it, then drop it
And humiliate me in front of our friends

Then I'll use that voice that you find annoyin'
And say something like, "Yeah, intelligent input, darlin'
Why don't you just have another beer then?"
Then you'll call me a bitch
And everyone we're with will be embarrassed
And I won't give a shit

My fingertips are holding onto
The cracks in our foundation
And I know that I should let go
But I can't
And every time we fight I know it's not right
Every time that you're upset and I smile
I know I should forget, but I can't

You said I must eat so many lemons
'Cause I am so bitter
I said, "I'd rather be with your friends, mate
'Cause they are much fitter"
Yes, it was childish
And you got aggressive
And I must admit that I was a bit scared
But it gives me thrills to wind you up

My fingertips are holding onto
The cracks in our foundation
And I know that I should let go
But I can't
And every time we fight I know it's not right
Every time that you're upset and I smile
I know I should forget, but I can't

Your face is pasty
'Cause you've gone and got so wasted
What a surprise
Don't want to look at your face
'Cause it's making me sick
You've gone and got sick on my trainers
I only got these yesterday
Oh my gosh, I cannot be bothered with this
Well, I'll leave you there 'til the mornin'
And I purposely won't turn the heating on
And dear God, I hope I'm not stuck with this one

My fingertips are holding onto
The cracks in our foundation
And I know that I should let go
But I can't
And every time we fight I know it's not right
Every time that you're upset and I smile
I know I should forget, but I can't

And every time we fight I know it's not right
Every time that you're upset and I smile
I know I should forget, but I can't

And every time we fight I know it's not right
Every time that you're upset and I smile
I know I should forget, but I can't

I've read all the other meaning things here, and I've got something a little different. I was surprised when I read them all. I LOVE THIS SONG! So awesome!

I think it's about a girl who loves this guy but there are so many faults in each other, and she's picking on them and he's pickign on hers, too. But she loves him so much, and even through ALL of his faults, she loves him, even though she knows she shouldn't and that she should forget about their relationship. But she can't. She loves him too much for her own good. I lvoe the phrasing "fingertips are holding onto, the cracks in our foundation". It's such a beautfiul way of phrasing everything that's this: she's trying to hold onto them with all ten fingers but they're slipping, and she grips on tighter, when though she really knows she should let go, because she loves him. I LOVE THIS SONG!

Shes sick of him, what he does, how he goes about things, how wasted he gets and how pathetic and annoying and disgusting he is, yet hasnt the balls to end it and move on because she knows it will hurt.

But also knows hes just not right for her, and that she hopes it wont last forever, that someday [soon] shell finally get the balls.

I went through a patch of this in a current relationship, it was hard to "patch up" as you will, so we just started from scratch and thankfully it seems to be near heaven. But this song is similar to "Ordinary people"-John Legend as he talks about how a relationship will have its ups and downs, and that sometimes you want to walk away, "Sometimes its heaven then we head back to hell again, kiss then we make up on the way."

I know lots of people are complaining that this song (particularly the parts below) are chavvy and crap songwriting. But I think that in the context of the song as a whole (eg the chorus being quite complex and melodic in structure)it just makes these lines even more powerful - she's clearly a smart person, yet this relationship is causing her to be increasingly shallow and petty:

"You said I must eat so many lemons 'cause I am so bitter I said: "I'd rather be with your friends, mate 'Cause they are much fitter,"

    &

You've gone and got sick on my trainers I only got these yesterday Oh my gosh, I cannot be bothered with this"

I think these words (and the way she sings them) when contrasted with the beautiful melody of the chorus make it even more apparent that she's wasting herself and her life here, making herself a worse person in the relationship - and hints that the guy is maybe not that bad, just stuck in the same spiral too.

It's a tragically beautiful song about relationships and how we seem to prefer to grind each other down and screw each other over out of desperation to simply avoid being alone, or having to start again with someone else.

Probably one of my favourite kate nash songs. It's funny and sad at the same time. Kinda reminds me of my last relationship. Kate nash will be as big as the likes of winehouse and allen soon.

I pretty much agree with cal1989.

Except I think that she has become resentful about the relationship and picks on every little thing about him (that she probably found lovely at the start of the relationship). It seems that she's just tired and bored of the relationship and her patience with him is lessening.

But she's still trying to hold onto their relationship and what it was like at the beginning (the foundations). She probably still has strong feels for him (left from the start of their relationship), but she knows that they're not right for each other and things can't carry on like this. Only she can't bring herself to 'let go' of what they used to have.

I think this song is about how Kate is with this guy, but he drives her absolutely crazy. They don't even particularly care for each other, but they continue to hold onto a relationship that doesn't exist anymore. But because they are in a relationship with someone who they don't particularly like anymore, they continually try to get under the other one's skin because they themselves are frustrated with the whole thing. I've had a couple of friends who have done this type of thing in the past and they all say it was because it was comfortable to be with their significant other, even when they were miserable together. This is also kind of like a divorce song. It seems like this kind of behavior is the common thread in a lot of dissolving marriages. They don't love each other anymore and resent each other.

    LOVE the song though!

Its more like THE GUY doesnt really care about her as much as she thought and she found out he just is with her cuz its easier than breaking up. She tries to tell him in passive aggressive ways but it doesnt matter cuz she cant let go even then because shes rather clingy. she relizes she cant take this anymore though and gets tired of it and leaves even though it hurts to much. its obvious.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
