You lived a time of lies until you told me everything
I hope we make amends, but you don't
Life taught you how to fly and then you flew away from me
You left me haunted, star the ending image of the one

[Chorus]
Because they're still in you too low
All the voices you don't know
And they're still in you too low
All the choices that you chose

You harbored all the wasted sighs to define the quiet drone
I'll let you start again, but you won't
I saw you pray for change and then you walked all over me
You wanted what you could not have and now you are alone

[Chorus]

Make the voices tell me who you are, and who I am to be

Are you alone where you are tonight?
I'm alone when you're right here
But I'm still in you somehow
I never left at all
Now I'm still in you too low
So my voice is all you know

[Chorus]

Leave you nothing left to hold
When you're nothing it's a good time to remind you of one thing
The pursuit begins when this portrayal of life ends

I think this song is about a couple who are going through rough times for a long while. This guy knew there was something wrong going on for so long and trying to figure things out and fix them. She confessed all she did, she've been lying to him for so long & each time things go bad she just run so far away. He's hoping for amendmentnd and says "but you don't"meaning you are not trying !! He feels everything between them is a lie but still he is giving her a second chance. He says "you left me haunted" not knowing what went wrong with our relation and even though I kept trying all the time.

In the second stanza, he says that all the voices and choices u have will always be there inside you and you will always follow them flying away from me. He wants to say that I'm not the one for you, I've never been enough for you that u always follow these voices, running to other things !!

In the third stanza, what he meant is that she is hiding so much from him & now that she conffessed he wants to give her another chance and start all over again "but you wont" meaning I'm sure u will not try again, therefore, why would I give u another chance ?!! "I saw you pray for change ...." he wants to tell her that all she do is just hope n pray for things to change but when it comes to taking actions she just walk away cuz deep inside her he is not the thing she wants and he says he knows it thats why "ur alone now" he wants to tell her that he is not staying.

In the fifth stanza, he wants her to know that he is fed up with this feeling and asks her if she feels alone being without him and tellin her that he is no more having that feeling, on the contrary, he would feel alone when she is around cuz he no long feels her!!
But I'm still in you somehow I never left at all Now I'm stealing you too low So my voice is all you know

he is sure he will always be there inside her somehow cuz he is certain that she've been feeling his love for her and will always regret losing him. He says now it's my turn to steal you cuz once i will leave I will be all the voices that call you .. it will feel like it's only my voice which you knew and will always follow. This time, my voice will be so deep inside u, hard to not to follow ..

    I LOVED THIS SONG :D

This is very similar to something I told an ex-fiancee. Immediately after we split up, I brushed it off and ran away from the pain, but later when it all hit me, it hit me HARD. At that time, he was still running from it. I told him something like, "You don't feel it now, but it'll hit you. You'll feel it. And you'll regret that things went this way." And he DID. And when he did, he remembered that I'd told him that.

To me "It's still in you too low" is another way of saying the same thing. It's still in you too low, you don't feel it yet, all your choices. I'm still in you, you just don't feel me right now, but you will.

I agree with the person who said it's probably "I'm still in you too low" instead of "stealing you too low", and I wouldn't put much stock in what "their" myspace says. Most famous people don't really have a myspace, and the pages listed under their names are imposters. Do you think all those people have time to play around on myspace? Maybe some, but not most. I've heard various people talk in interviews about how they supposedly have a myspace, but they had no idea.

Aww, crap. Accidentally clicked ADD... annnnywho, like I was saying:

"You lived a time of lies until you told me everything I hope we make amends, but you don't Life taught you how to fly and then you flew away from me You left me haunted, star the ending image of the one"

    • K, basically, I think this is saying, Yeah, they've been hitting some rough times lately in their relationship. She really hasn't been communicating with him too well recently, and so she acts like everything's OK between them (the life of lies), even though it's really probably just getting worse and worse...UNTIL, she finally comes clean, and basically after it's too late to fix it (at least, from her perspective...hence "I hope we make amends, but you don't"), she tells him that the relationship's not working and she wants out...But the guy still wants to stick around and try to make things work (as he probably would have liked to do, if only she had been communicating their problems all along, rather than keeping them to herself - the life of lies,)

"Cuz they're still in you too low All the voices you don't know And they're still in you too low All the choices that you chose

    • I kinda agree with Mikeandy on this one I think...Although harder to put into words than actually understand, I think this means like, Although she doesn't consciously realize it, there's something in her that knows that her choices she's been making - and is currently making by deciding to leave - aren't really the choices that are best for her. --Again, hard to put into words, but yeah, sorta-ish.

"You harbored all the wasted sighs to define the quiet drone I'll let you start again, but you won't I saw you pray for change and then you walked all over me You wanted what you could not have and now you are alone"

-This is a goody. Explains a lot, I think. Ok, "You harbored all the wasted sighs to define the quiet drone" --I think that's pretty straightforwardly saying that basically, while the relationship was crumbling down, rather than actually actively attempt to help fix it, she sat by and did nothing. "I'll let you start again, but you won't" basically means, Since she let it deteriorate to the point of no return (in her view), she doesn't feel like trying to fix things...of course, since the singer is just now discovering this problem in their relationship, he of course wants to fix things. "I saw you pray for change and then you walked all over me. You wanted what you could not have and now you are alone".....A little harder to translate, and I could be wrong, but from a personal experience, to me it translates as follows: Yes, the girlfriend DID WANT change, and hoped things might get better, yet since she didn't do anything to fix the relationship (and in fact, basically sabatoged it by only getting more and more upset, which only perpetuated the cycle of the deteriorating relationship since the bad mood was contagious and further seperated the two), this hoped-for happy ending was something that was never realistically possible. Thus ultimately, she caused her own loneliness, since she basically sabataged the relationship, and sped up it's demise, rather than trying to fix it while it was still fixable.

'Cuz they're still in you too low All the voices you don't know And they're still in you too low All the choices that you chose ***Make the voices tell me who you are and who I am to be

-Ok, the original part of the chorus, refer to what I said earlier. The Tripple-starred part, I think is basically the singer pleading with the girlfriend to actually be OPEN and HONEST and actually COMMUNICATE what their relationship problems are. Baically, where she stands in their relationship ("who you are"). However, at this point, I think the singer kinda realizes it's too late. So although he's pleading with her to finally come clean and tell him about all the problems, I don't think he expects them both to be able - or even willing, in her case - to solve these problems... Thus when he says "and who I am TO BE"...I think he's predicting that he'll be alone after this final discussion.

"Are you alone where you are tonight? I'm alone when you're right here But I'm still in you somehow I never left at all Now I'm stealing you too low So my voice is all you know"

Ohh, another good stanza... Ok, I think ""Are you alone where you are tonight? I'm alone when you're right here" is basically him saying, 'I don't know about you... but even though we're here discussing this right now, I feel alone and empty inside, cuz I realize that you don't feel for me like you once did' "But I'm still in you somehow. I never left at all. Now I'm stealing you too low, So my voice is all you know." ... Hmm, tough to describe. I think he is trying to say that he knows that deep down inside, he knows she still has feelings for him, and always has, even though she let their relationship fall apart.

"*Chourus....'All the choices that you chose'...Leave you nothing left to hold"

    • I think he's basically saying that the girl's decision to let the relationship fall apart and break up with him has left her all alone.

"When you're Nothing, it's a good time to remind you of one thing..." -I slightly adjusted the lyrics here, as I think it makes this sentence easier to follow. I think when he says "nothing", he basically means 'when you're in depression and basically lonely and in your darkest, saddest days'

"The pursuit begins when this portrayal of life...ends" The pursuit, I think is her pursuit for a real meaningful, lasting, wholesome satisfying relationship. And when he says "this portrayal of life", I think he's referring to how she's been viewing and acting (or lack there-of) on their relationship. Basically, I think this very last line of lyrics is saying "Whether if it's with me or with your next boyfriend, you'd better start caring more and acting more towards getting through the rough times, and start realizing that it takes effort from both sides and open communication in order to sustain a good lasting relationship."

    ~~ALL DONE~~

Well, I could be 100% wrong. For all I know, this is a song could be about punching little old ladies in the face and dancing with leprachaons. BUT, at least I tried to make sense of it, and gave reasonings for each of my interpretations. Please, let me know if you agree or disagree. Ta!

    My Interpretation

"The pursuit begins when this portrayal of life...ends"

    • This line is the one that stands out to me the most, it always has even before I knew that the album was called. After listening to the song more than 100 times just to try and fully understand and feel. Everytime I listen to it, its almost as if I am being reminded of my past situation. But I think he is referring to the famous, "the pursuit of happiness" begins when we let go of our regrets and our sorrows that tie us down. That same sorrow that lead him to write these songs, is the one preventing him from being happy. I don't know why but I never looked at it like that until today I heard the song again and it hit me, only after I moved on completely did I begin to feel true happiness again. I think the cd is one whole story, and you can put it together also by how the cd begins and ends with the same "camera rolling like" sound. R -

I think this song is about someone who's ignoring their concious...

But to me personally.. it's about my best friend. And the voices that are "in too low" are my other friends telling me he's no good.

"You lived a time of lies until you told me everything" Was when we first met.. he seemed to be living a double life.. and then he told me it all. And I still stuck by him even knowing what I did..

"I hope we make amends, but you don't" Is what's happening now.. we keep fighting about the same thing. But he refuses to help change so we can move on and just be friends.

I've listened to this song on repeat since I heard it last night... Just amazing ^^

To me, this song is about a girl leaving her boyfriend behind for another guy she fell in love with.

"You lived a time of lies until you told me everything" She had feelings for this new guy, and she knew it the whole time, but never admitted it to her boyfriend.

"Life taught you how to fly and then you flew away from me" She left everything behind for her boyfriend, but now she's going to leave him for this new guy.

"I saw you pray for change and then you walked all over me You wanted what you could not have and now you are alone"

She prayed for a change from her past situations, found that in her boyfriend. Now she's praying for a change from her boyfriend, and is going to get with the new guy. She will continue this trend, and in the end, she'll be alone.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
