    My Interpretation

    I don't get why no one's mentioned this. Mariella's simply an introvert!

    She's content in being alone. "If I wanna play, I can play with me, If I wanna think, I'll think in my head."

    Because she's so quiet, she's observant and smarter than the others. "But Mariella just smiled as she skipped down the road because she knew all the secrets in her world. yeah, she always got the crossword puzzle right every day and she could do the alphabet backwards, without making any mistakes."

    Mariella is just an introverted girl, content in being different and alone. Not antisocial. And I don't think this song portrays her in a negative way either ("And sometimes, sometimes, I wish I was like Mariella").

    People seem to think that people who enjoy solitude are antisocial or autistic. :/

    I'm an introvert- so, I know what it's like to WANT to be alone rather often and struggling with this in a primarily extroverted world.

    this song is about a girl (Mariella) who glues her lips together. I think she's the youngest in her class, maybe she has skipped a class or to, 'cause she too good for her own class-step.. she's wearing black clothes, 'cause it looks mysterius, but her mother want her to wearing pink and pearls. Mariella is don't care with it. I think it's intentional that she behaves in that way, 'cause she want to be a little different compared to other.. She want to stand out, if you understand ;D
