Hit that, hit that snare

I'm in the business of misery, let's take it from the top
She's got a body like an hourglass, that's ticking like a clock
It's a matter of time before we all run out
When I thought he was mine, she caught him by the mouth
I waited eight long months
She finally set him free
I told him I couldn't lie, he was the only one for me
Two weeks and we had caught on fire
She's got it out for me, but I wear the biggest smile

Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now
But God, does it feel so good
'Cause I got him where I want him now
And if you could, then you know you would
'Cause God, it just feels so
It just feels so good

Second chances they don't ever matter, people never change
Once a whore, you're nothing more, I'm sorry that'll never change
And about forgiveness, we're both supposed to have exchanged
I'm sorry honey, but I passed it up, now look this way
Well, there's a million other girls who do it just like you
Looking as innocent as possible to get to who
They want and what they like, it's easy if you do it right
Well I refuse, I refuse, I refuse!

Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now
But God, does it feel so good
'Cause I got him where I want him right now
And if you could, then you know you would
'Cause God, it just feels so
It just feels so good

I watched his wildest dreams come true
And not one of them involving you
Just watch my wildest dreams come true
Not one of them involving

Whoa, well I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now

Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now
But God, does it feel so good
'Cause I got him where I want him now
And if you could, then you know you would
'Cause God, it just feels so
It just feels so good

Whoa, that was quick. I think it's "I waited eight long months" not "I waited and ate a long lunch". Hahaha.

I really, really, REALLY love this song!!! I'm so excited for RIOT!

For me, the singer (I'll refer to her as Hayley) could be talking about a guy that she really likes, but the guy has a "perfect girl" (who has a body like an hourglass) But in the end, she gets the guy... Perhaps "Miss Perfect" becomes a "whore" who tries to look "as innocent as possible" to the guy but he ends up disliking her ("seconds chances don't even matter, people never change" >> perhaps that's what he's thinking)

Then Hayley feels so good coz she got the guy in the end!

"But, God, does it feel so good Cause I got him where I want him right now"

Most of the time, I can relate to this song >:) Hahahaha...

Hey, doesn't this guy have a mind of his own?

She's talking about the 'guy' in her song as if he's a pair of socks.

    Correct lyrics (from Paramore themselves):

I'm in the business of misery Let's take it from the top She's got a body like an hourglass That's tickin' like a clock It's a matter of time before we all run out... When I thought he was mine She caught him by the mouth

i can agree with most that the song is about a girl being in love with a boy, and the boy getting stolen from her suddenly. so, she waits, and then she gets him back, and she's not letting him fall into the hands of someone else. it's an awesome song. hayley's voice is full of emotion .. and paramore is altogether amazing. i definitely suggest buying "RIOT!" when it's out. (:

Okay so basically, I'm going to break it down for you because this song makes perfect sense. AMAZING song by the way. One of the best off the album Riot! Let's start:

I'm in the business of misery Let's take it from the top

*She's dealing with the usual teenage scene. She's involved in a bit of drama and knows there's a chance for a heart break, but she's determined. Take it from the top is meaning she is going to tell her side of the story.

She's got a body like an hourglass That's tickin' like a clock

*This might indicate the other girl, who has a perfect figure and who is beautiful. Ticking like a clock is indicating that she has been waiting for this guy that she likes, and she is confident she will get him since she is so beautiful and all that snobby bull shit.

It's a matter of time before we all run out When I thought he was mine She caught him by the mouth

*This other girl [use Hayley for the example], likes the guy too and has been waiting for him. If either of them don't get to him, then he is going to move on and they are both going to be screwed. When Hayley tried to get to him, the other girl snags him before she can.

I waited eight long months She finally set him free

*Hayley waited patiently for 8 months, and the other girl got to him before she did, and so Hayley thinks this whole thing isn't fair.

I told him I couldn't lie He was the only one for me

*Hayley has strong feelings for him. Hayley probably thinks the other girl is just using him, and has other guys in mind too and she's cheated on this guy they both like while Hayley knows herself that she likes that one particular guy.

Two weeks and we had caught on fire She's got it out for me But I wear the biggest smile

*The indicated 2 weeks could be when Hayley and the guy hit it off, and the other girl is pissed about it and tried to get back at Hayley, but Hayley plays it off and wears the biggest smile, knowing she has the guy, and the other girl doesn't.

Whoa, I never meant to brag But I got him where I want him now

*Hayley doesn't want to brag about getting the guy now, and she's finally got him after the long run.

Whoa, it was never my intention to brag To steal it all away from you now

*Hayley ends up bragging about it and the other girl is furious because Hayley stealed him away from her, but the guy should've been Hayley's in the first place.

But God, does it feel so good Cause I got him where I want him now

*Hayley feels so much better now that she has him and the other girl doesn't.

And if you could then you know you would Cause God, it just feels so It just feels so good

*The "and if you could then you know you would" indicates that if the other girl was in Hayley's position, she would act the same way.

Second chances, they don't ever matter People never change

*Hayley it seems, as if she's talking to the guy after the other girl cheated on him, and she's telling him the the other girl shouldn't get a chance because she's never going to change.

Once a whore, you're nothing more I'm sorry, that'll never change

*Plain and simple..Once you're whore, you are nothing more than that. You're just classified as one and you'll never change from a whore to a nice innocent girl.

And about forgiveness We're both supposed to have exchanged I'm sorry, honey, but I passed that up Now look this way

*She's indicating that the other girl is trying to apologize not only to the guy but to her because the other girl feels so low now that she finally hasn't got something she wanted and Hayley is not going to put up with it and she wants the other girl to look at what Hayley and the guy have that she doesn't.

Well, there's a million other girls who do it just like you Looking as innocent as possible To get to who they want and what they like

*She's saying that there's tons of other girls who act fake and are snaggers like the other girl is. They try to act innocent like they're not trying to steal someone else's guy but they do it and they try to get just what then want and like.

It's easy if you do it right Well, I refuse, I refuse, I refuse

*She's saying it's easy for the girls to get the guys because they just have to sweet talk their way into it, but Hayley refuses for the other girl to do that to the guy she likes.

Whoa, I never meant to brag But I got him where I want him now Whoa, it was never my intention to brag To steal it all away from you now But God, does it feel so good Cause I got him where I want him right now And if you could then you know you would Cause God, it just feels so It just feels so good

    ^^look at the previous chorus

I watched his wildest dreams come true And not one of them involving you

*Hayley is watching his wildest dreams come true and none of them involve the other girl.

Just watch my wildest dreams come true Not one of them involving...

*Hayley is rubbing it in the other girl's face that the guy is having his wildest dreams come true by Hayley and they aren't involving the other girl, once again.

Whoa, I never meant to brag But I got him where I want him now

    ^^already explained somewhere above

Whoa, I never meant to brag But I got him where I want him now Whoa, it was never my intention to brag To steal it all away from you now But God, does it feel so good Cause I got him where I want him now And if you could then you know you would Cause God, it just feels so It just feels so good

    ^^ALL indicated above somewhere too

Anyways, I enjoyed breaking this song down for all of you; All of this is my own opinion. If you think differently, then so be it :]

Wow! Intense! I love it! This song just is amazing! From he lyrics, to the vocals, to the music, they got this one down.

Favorite line: "I watched his wildest dreams come true Not one of them involving you"

It almost sounds like she is with someone, whose ex was mean to him, or cheated (the whole whore thing!) This line is just amazing. It's almost like she is saying "ive been there for all the best things in his life, and not once did he look back, or did it involve you!"

    Love it!

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
