I am a dominant gene- Live as I die
Never say forever cause forever's a lie
I can see right through it so I can ignore you
The story changes but the ending won't bore you

I tried to tell you but you simply obeyed
They didn't listen so they threw you away

Now all you do is talk - I don't wanna hear your bullshit
Is this what you want?!

This is where it begins
This is where it ends
This is where it begins
And this is where it ends

They called us a dead generation, they told us that we wouldn't survive
They left us alone in the maelstrom
As you can see we're all clearly alive
We know where you are and were coming
Lets see you say that shit to our face

30/30-150 Remembers 30/30-150 HATES

In my own peculiar way I feel mercurial
Before I get ahead of myself again
I know the where but I still don't know the when

You wanna live in a one sided world
Be prepared for a whole world of hurt
Now it's the grand facade
I dont want to be an angel
I just want to be GOD

They called us a dead generation, they told us that we wouldn't survive
They left us alone in the maelstrom
As you can see we're all clearly alive
We know where you are and were coming
Lets see you say that shit to our face

30/30-150 Remembers 30/30-150 HATES (HATES)

OHHHHHHHH
I am a fucking machine fueled by the past
Memory's a memory until it's a fact
I can bury the hatchet and let some shit go
But I got too many grudges to hold!

I Saw a lot of people die in the end
I never want to walk that road again
Now I will never give up
I don't want to have it all, I JUST WANT TO HAVE ENOUGH

This is where it begins
This is where it ends
This is where it begins
And this is where it ends

They called us a dead generation, they told us that we wouldn't survive
They left us alone in the maelstrom
As you can see we're all clearly alive
We know where you are and were coming
Lets see you say that shit to our face
30/30-150 remembers 30/30-150 HATES

    Song Meaning

First of all, it's a rifle bullet. Second, it was also Corey Taylor's physical dimensions in highschool- 30 in waist, 30 in pant leg, 150 lbs. It is also a code for "total nuclear annihilation", a possible reference to growing up in the Cold War. This is supported by the wavelength of residual radiation from fission being 30/30/150 nm.

Not that I'm some Corey Taylor expert or anything...

But the lines "I don't want to be an angel; I just want to be God" does make sense, even if Corey is a follower of the Law of One.

I don't know if Corey is a follower, but the Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey states that God is you. You treat yourself as God. Therefore everyone is equal.

I believe the song is Corey giving a f*** you to everyone that said that he wouldn't be successful with his music... as well as I believe that its also meant to be interpretted by the individual. By that I mean the idea that its about staying true to yourself.

Corey stayed true to his self by not giving up on music and he wanted people to be able to use this song as inspiration to do the same. If someone is on your back about something because they don't like it then give them a big f*** you and do it.

    Song Meaning

Corey explained the meaning in an interview. 30x30 was his waist and length of his pants and he weighed 150 pounds in high school. The songs about people telling him he'd never be anything and this is his 'fuck you' to them.

Wow lol. 30-30-150 is him as a kid. He wore a 30/30 pants size and weighed 150 pounds. He is saying he remembers all the crap people talked about him and how he could never make it. Now he is basically saying **** you all.

30/30 was his pants size in high school and he was 150 pounds. This song is talking about how everyone told him he would never make anything of himself and he's talking about how far he's come since the kid he was in school.

I got bored reading through all of the comments and didn't see this through about 4 pages so here's what I think it is. It's describing a kid. He weighs 150 lbs and wears 30/30 jeans. This fits way better then the gun theory. 30/30 150 is a young, tall, and skinny kid that gets picked on. I'm a dominate gene is him thinking, I might look like nothing, being 30/30 150, but inside I'm a beast. It's also a play on words. I'm a dominate gene, but the 30/30 is referring to jeans. I think Corey is a lot smarter then you think.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
