c'mon, now you've got some time
I wanna hear it cuz I need an answer
I know youth dies young
but our youth's just begun
and ain't it a beautiful day

cuz it's true, baby
I need you
I'm damned if i say i do
Gertrude would approve

i need you in the mornin
i need you in the silent afterglow
won't you let my lovin' show, baby

oh anyone can toe the line
except for me cuz I'm a disco dancer
all my life I've been
a gopher with a grin
my smile is fadin' away

cuz it's true, baby
i need you
to shatter the status q
Truman would approve

i need you in the mornin'
i need you in the sunshine, rain or snow
won't you let my lovin' show, baby

otherwise I don't want to hear it
you've got me talkin talkin talkin
well it's better than you
cuz I say I don't wanna fear it
that look that says exactly what you think of me
cuz that's when you would be free oh
from my love
my love
baby baay-bee

c'mon now honey stop denyin'
or I'm forever gonna be a bachelor
leave the steps of your house
get down to the courthouse
give me a G and an A, Y?!

cuz it's true,
baby I need you I'm damned if I say, "I do"
Jesus would approve I need you in the morning I need you
in the scarlet afterglow oh won't you let my lovin' show
baby I need you-oo-ooo I need you to sustain my sorry soul
won't you let my lovin' show
baby I need you I need you I said
I don't wanna hear it you got me talkin talkin talkin
well it's better than you I need you-oo-ooo I need yoooou
I need you to get over my rainbow
I don't wanna hear it I don't wanna hear it
I don't wanna hear it I don't wanna hear it

wow. is it just me, or is she insinuating she needs this guy to confirm her heterosexuality? Or maybe it's just because he keeps denying her love and others suspect she is gay?

I dunno, but funny and cute song.

ok, i feel like an idiot now. I just looked at a CD review and this song is supposed to be in FAVOR of gay marriage. Now that i look at the lyrics (and listen) some more, i can see it now.

Please disregard my last message :-X regardless, still amazing song

Yes, it's a song in favor of gay marriage. Gertrude is Gertrude Stein. Truman could be Truman Capote, or it could even be Harry Truman, who desegregated the military back in 1948.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
