The cat calls through the night
And two chicks in the parking lot crack wise
On the price of fame, they stood to gain
The phone book's been ripped off
And two shapes in the dark across the way
Know the price of flight, it's weight and size
If you've got something that sheds some light

Use it tonight, tonight

Heads down, thumbs up
Two sips from the cup of human kindness
And I'm shitfaced, just laid to waste
So wait here, wait up
Stock tips from the credit checks come next
In the logic's line, halt on that dime
If you've got will and a little time

Use it tonight, tonight

You had to send the wrecking crew after me
I can't walk right
You had to send the wrecking crew after me
I can't walk right

Phantom of the heart
Four beats from the party line
Been mine since I was a child
It just grew there wild
So heads down, thumbs up
Four beats from starting line
Get set to exercise your right
Use it tonight
If there's a choice between a chance and flight

Choose it tonight, tonight

You had to send the wrecking crew after me
I can't walk right
You had to send the wrecking crew after me
I can't walk right, I can't walk right

Use it tonight, tonight
Tonight, tonight, night, night

I always thought that "Cried wise on the price of fame" was actually "Cracked wise on the price of fame" as in, making wisecracks. Who knows though? All I know is this is my favorite song off of twin cinema.

wow...dig the harmonies on the chorus

gotta say I was really surprised by the sound of this song the first time I heard it. they were smart to release Twin Cinema as the first song off the third album since it sounded the most like what we expected from them.

the first few times I listened to this song I didn't really know how I felt about it...now I'm certain I love it. I don't care what it means, it makes me want to get up and violently thrash my head about...that's more than enough for me.

I think Use It sounds a lot like their older stuff...the stuff that doesn't is like "Jackie, Dressed in Cobras" and "The Bleeding Heart Show".

I love this song. It fits right in with any of their older albums.

i don't know what the song means, i know i like it. i think when they say "heads down, thumbs up" its a reference to that game "7 up" that kids play in school... i like that.

Its about taking chances. He's needs help in deciding wheather the people in the song should try again and take a chance or just cut and run (for instance the two chicks who got shafted by their fame). I guess.... Yeah.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
