You're in control
Is there anywhere you want to go?
You're in control
Is there anything you want to know?
The future's for discovering
The space in which we're traveling

From the top of the first page
To the end of the last day
From the start in your own way
You just want somebody listening to what you say
It doesn't matter who you are

Under the surface trying to break through
Deciphering the codes in you
I need a compass, draw me a map
I'm on the top, I can't get back

Whoa whoa

The first line on the first page
To the end of the last page
From the start in your own way
You just want somebody listening to what you say
It doesn't matter who you are
It doesn't matter who you are

You just want
Somebody listening to what you say
Oh, you just want somebody listening to what you say
It doesn't matter who you are
It doesn't matter who you are

Is there anybody out there who
Is lost and hurt and lonely too
Are they bleeding all your colors into one?
And if you come undone
As if you've been run through
Some catapult it fired you
You wonder if your chance will ever come
Or if you're stuck in square one

"Are they bleeding all your colors into one?" This line is so meaningful to me. To me it means that your life was once as wonderful as a beautiful painting but then something happens that is so painful that your life, your soul, your heart starts bleeding and bleeding until all the beautiful colors and pictures seem to bleed into one color. And what color comes when you mix together a lot of colors? usually a dark one... This is what this single sentence means to me because it is what I am going through. All the beautiful life I once had is bleeding into one color.... black.

    My Interpretation

I think it’s about feeling depressed and Chris trying to help by talking with the listener about human nature. (sorry if bad English)

“You're in control Is there anywhere you want to go?”

Ok, so be aware that you have the control of yourself. As easy that you can walk and go wherever you want.

“You're in control Is there anything you want to know?”

In the Information Age.. Internet.. you can also investigate about whatever you want..

“The future's for discovering The space in which we're traveling”

You can invest more time learning about things.. things like why we are here..

“From the top of the first page To the end of the last day From the start in your own way You just want somebody listening to what you say It doesn't matter who you are”

Everybody in this world needs to be with someone for not feeling alone. Not the kind to just be between people, but to have someone who cares, who is really interested in what you have to say or what you think.

“Under the surface trying to break through Deciphering the codes in you”

Surely you’ve tried to understand why you feel depressed (and everybody else seems happy not like you).

“I need a compass, draw me a map I'm on the top, I can't get back”

Maybe you feel lost, maybe you’re someone famous feeling pressured and because you’re on in sight of a lot of people you can’t leave and take rest (also Chris has felt that way)

“The first line on the first page To the end of the last page From the start in your own way You just want somebody listening to what you say It doesn't matter who you are It doesn't matter who you are”

Again, it doesn’t matter who you are, everybody on here is looking to have the attention of somebody else (human nature to not feel depressed)

“Is there anybody out there who Is lost and hurt and lonely too Are they bleeding all your colors into one? And if you come undone As if you've been run through Some catapult it fired you”

Self explained.. (But Chris insist, hey yes.. I’m talking to you)

“You wonder if your chance will ever come Or if you're stuck in square one”

You feel cornered, but hey, everybody that feels like you, wonder if they chance to leave depression will ever come or if they’re stuck trying to..

I love this song... to me it seems like this person is trying to get somewhere, or explain something to someone, and that person just isn't listening or even trying to hear what they have to say. So he's basically stuck in the same spot, with all these things he wants to do, but can't because something is holding him back.

    Song Meaning

It's about someone that has never found love, and they're wondering if they ever will. Hence the last verse, and the last few lines in the chorus. This person just wants someone to listen and care about them, but they never have been able to, and that pains them. They're lonely. Themes like this are all over this album. In songs like X&Y, Low, and Twisted Logic, especially.

after reading through the lyrics with the music, i think it may be about someone who's trying to say something, but nobody will listen, and all they want is someone to listen and acknowledge that they are talking. just what i get out of it.

"It doesn't matter who you aaarrrrrre" - how true...

I think this song is about finding where you stand in the universe... and the truth is, it doesn't matter who you are. You just want somebody listening to what you say, i.e. a lover, a friend etc.

    Song Meaning

This song (hence the first verse) is about someone who used to have control over their life and it was an amazing life, full and colourful. But then, (hence the last verse) Their life turned upside down because something tragic hit them right there. Their life is no longer colourful "Are they bleeding all your colours into one?" It has gone black and murky and they want to die. Square One. Death. Non Existance.

Missing lyrics - (third verse) I think its:

underneath the surface....(???) deciphering all the codes of you I am your compass and I'll draw you a map(?)

    fourth verse: (...'that you write'?)

Anyway, this song is a rip-off of U2's The Forgettable Fire (title track) ;p

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
