This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
Well I was sitting, waiting, wishing
You believed in superstitions
Then maybe you'd see the signs
Lord knows that this world is cruel
And I ain't the Lord no I'm just a fool
And a loving somebody don't make them love you
Must I always be waiting, waiting on you?
Must I always be playing, playing your fool?
I sang your songs, I danced your dance
I gave your friends all a chance
Putting up with them wasn't worth never having you
Aw, maybe you've been through this before
But it's my first time so please ignore
The next few lines 'cause they're directed at you
I can't always be waiting, waiting on you
I can't always be playing, playing your fool
I keep playing your part
But it's not my scene
Want this plot to twist
I've had enough mystery
Keep building it up
But then you're shooting me down
But I'm already down
Just wait a minute
Just sitting, waiting
Just wait a minute
Just sitting, waiting
Well if I was in your position
I'd put down all my ammunition
I'd wonder why it had taken me so long
But Lord knows that I'm not you
And if I was I wouldn't be so cruel
'Cause waiting on love ain't so easy to do
Must I always be waiting, waiting on you?
Must I always be playing, playing your fool?
No I can't always be waiting, waiting on you
I can't always be playing, playing your fool, fool
You believed in superstitions
Then maybe you'd see the signs
Lord knows that this world is cruel
And I ain't the Lord no I'm just a fool

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
No Surprises

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Sitting waiting wishing that you believe in superstition meaning that you believed in the string of events that brought us together means something other than coincidence... then maybe you would see the hints and signs I lay out for you to see... aka my signs of love and affection.. but hey this world is evil... i'm not god-( or a higher person) who knows everything nor am i a fool... therefore i learned that loving someone does not make them love you back... basically just because i love you does not mean you see or acknowledge me...Should i even wait around any longer? should i allow you to make a fool of me....i tried my best i played how you want me to play i was friends with your friends but putting up with you and them... maybe you do this allot to people if so then these words are directed at by everyone who would ever date you...I CANT DO THIS i cannot have you treating me the way you do...i want this story to change because the road its going on has yet to change and its all the same.... you keep pulling me in and i'm infatuated by you.. then when you have me you throw me away...right now i'm down thinking that i am sooo close to leaving you and yet i find myself waiting..!!! i cannot get away. if i was you id stop and realize what i am giving you! but no... i am not you and nor am i god but if i was you i would stop hurting people. because waiting for love to be returned is hard and it hurts you feel like your getting eaten... should i wait..... should i be your toy... ( the author has cycled back..... maybe jacks friend has told him how this girl treats him, each time the friend says i'm leaving her!... maybe he does but in the end he circles right back into her trap.)-authors note ~funny i feel the same way about a girl who has dumped me twice times and each time she contacted me and lured me in again.... I think ill break up with her because right now i feel like she's playing me for a fool.... Yet i feel i don't have the strength. I guess i'm sitting waiting wishing she would return something....i think im addicted to the rejection.... but boy it hurts right now and my mind is consumed by it... feels good to write it down even though i would never tell anyone... when i heard this song my body choked up and i just realized how it was mirroring my situation...
@parker1257 you're not alone. Thank you very much for sharing this. Know that it is helping others to go through their sorrows, as well as it helped me. I'd like to highlight two parts of it:<br /> "...i learned that loving someone does not make them love you back..."<br /> "...because waiting for love to be returned is hard..."<br /> <br /> Be well!<br /> Vitor Rabbit
This song is about unrequited love - a universal feeling. Jack's song hints towards th story of a guy who loves a woman very much, but his approaches are denied again and again. He believes that both of them are meant to be together and obviously she innitially showed signs and dropped hints that made this belief stronger which is evident from the lines " You keep building me up". However she also "keeps shooting him down" which leaves him confused, embarrassed and hurt. He finally realises that all his sacrifices are not worth it and sheis just playing him for a fool. He makes up his mind to leave it all behind and move on since he cant always be waiting on her!
For all of you who feel this way right now I suggest you do the same and move on! Because if its meant to be then it wouldn't be so hard. Love should be smooth and easy for you to revel in it. It can be hard to get over him/her but remember about 98% of people have this feeling atleast once in their entire lifetime! So lick your wounds and walk away! =)
this song brings back memories or wanting more out of a relationship(ish) and, waiting to see if it would. Sadly, I'm still waiting. But, trying not to.
good song. the video is totally rad too. i think everyons bound to feel this way about someone... just constantly waiting for them :/
This Song = Greatness Idk why but it just puts me in a good mood
Just waiting for some person that you like to hurry up and move after waiting a bloody long time... or waiting a long time for the right person to come along something like that
its about a guy and a girl who are in love, but the guy feels like he loves her more and is more commited than she is to him etc, so he feels like he's always there for her but she never is for him
i think it's about when somebody knows you want/like/love them and they just send you mixed signals because they like the attention. One day they make you think they feel the same, then they don't call you for a while. You're always waiting for them and feel like a fool. It sucks to be in this position because they never give you a clear answer on what they want, but all your feelings are out there. but when somebody does this, the answer is pretty obvious, they don't care.
I keep playing your part But it’s not my scene Want this plot to twist I’ve had enough mystery You keep building it up But then you’re shooting me down But I’m already down Just wait a minute
Perfectly said.
Off new album "In Between Dreams" comin March 1st
i just heard this song today...if anyone is wondering you can get it off of itunes exclusive. if anyone knows how it feels to love someone and be willing to wait for them to love u back than this song captures that feeling exactly. its something we all do at least once in our lives. we put effort into a relationship and never get what we want out of it but we are blind fools in love.....thats what this song is about.
yes that is exactly what im feeling right now
