Passed out in our school clothes so we'd wake up in our Sunday's best
I never asked for your opinion, I just got it and I get it
You move slow like daytime drama
And I'm boring like his songs
So while I'm taking you for granted
We'll be humming along

Well cross my heart and hope to
I'm lying just to keep you here
So reckless (so reckless), so,
So thoughtless (so thoughtless)
So careless, I could care less

Well cross my heart and hope to
I'm lying just to keep you here
(So reckless)
Well she's so heartless,
And I could care less

So paint your face up something elegant
And this town maybe a darker shade of red
Cause a long night means a fist fight
Against your pillow and my pearly whites
I want to hear you scream you like me better on my knees
So let us pray
(we don't believe in second chances)
So let us pray

Don't you ask me
Don't you move (anywhere)

Cross my heart and hope to
I'm lying just to keep you here
So reckless (so reckless), so,
So thoughtless (so thoughtless)
So careless, I could care less

Well Cross my heart and hope to
I'm lying just to keep you here
(So reckless)
Well she's so heartless
And I could care less

Well cross my heart and hope to
I'm lying just to keep you here (I'll keep you here, I'll keep you here)

One of us never did it but we're taking it all.
And tell me why you never promised that you wanted it all.
And her eyes never batted when she said it
It's a long night, open, know it

This glass house is burning down (open all night, know it)
You light the match, I'll stick around (open all night, know it)
I'll give you everything you want (open all night, know it)
And wish the worst of what I was (open all night, know it)

This glass house is burning down (open all night, know it)
You light the match, I'll stick around (open all night, know it)
I'll give you everything you want (open all night, know it)
And wish the worst of what I was (open all night, know it)

Tonight won't make a difference
Tonight won't make a difference
Tonight won't make a difference
Well tonight won't make a difference
Well tonight won't make a difference
Tonight won't make a difference
Tonight won't make a difference
Well tonight won't make a difference

Okay so I'm definitely not sure if what I hear is what he actually says but I thiiiiink: "Don't you ask me, and don't you lose" should actually be "Don't you ask me, don't you utter a word"

And: "So paint your face up something elegant, and this town maybe a darker shade of red" should be "So paint your face up something elegant, and this time maybe a darker shade of red"

Like I said, I'm not sure but it's just a suggestion.

i think this song is about john, for two obvious reasons, "and I'm boring like his songs" and glasshouse, if you noticed in 'Follow The Format' adam used a glasshouse, and in this song he also uses a glasshouse, and we all know 'follow the format' is about straylight run, just my opinion...

Could this song be any more like Brand New- Soco Amaretto Lime? Don't get me wrong... I love TBS... but there are so many similarities. The guitar in the beginning... the first words (Passed out/sunday best)... and the the whole group singing the last line over and over... real weird. Give them both a listen and lemme know if you think I'm crazy.

i really think this song could be a fuck you to jessie and brand new. i think it's saying that they used brand new for stuff like fans and what not. and the shirts "mics are for singing not swinging" and adam says "i never asked for your opinion, i just got it. and i get it". i dunno these things kinda struck me. and maybe BN's songs are "boring". and the use of sunday best and passing out in the beginning. and the end with the chanting. maybe jessie and adam got in a lot of arguments, that being for the verse about fighting... this is just what i think.

sweet song, best on new cd i think.

yeah, its preyy much a 'fuck you' to brand new. Its that whole feud .. i think ryan had with jessie. Jessie stole his girl, so ofcourse, they got in a lot of arguments. Im not the biggest tbs fan, so i forgot the song.. but they have asong that's similar to brand new's 70 Times 7... because ryan and jessie were cowriting the songs (they did that a lot) and then they had their bad shit, and they both took the lyrics to that song and used it. But yeah... i like tbs more :) .. thought soco and play crack the sky are very pretty

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
