I... I came here by day, but I left here in darkness
And found you, found you on the way
And now, it is silver and silent, it is silver and cold
You, in somber resplendence, I hold

Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I'll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me) Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one

Light, like the flutter of wings, feel your hollow voice rushing into me
As you're longing to sing
So I... I will paint you in silver, I will wrap you in cold
I will lift up your voice as I sink

Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one, now
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I'll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me) Your sins into me

Cold in life's throws, I'll fall asleep for you
Cold in life's throws, I only ask you turn away
Cold in life's throws, I'll fall asleep for you
Cold in life's throws, I only ask you turn
As they seep... into me, oh, my beautiful one, now

Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I'll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me)
Your sins into me... oh

Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one, now
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I'll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me) Your sins into...
(Your sins into me) Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one

I think this song is about getting into a relationship right after a previous one ends. I also think that the 'new' relationship the singer talks about is about someone who his previous love was involved with. Maybe a friend? The second relationship appears to end badly as well.

"I... I came here by day, but I left here in darkness And found you, found you on the way"

The I came here by day could be about the first relationship that the singer's in. Then the 'left here in darkness' would be after the relationship comes to an end. "And found you on the way" This is about the person that the singer gets together with after his other girl. From this line, I get that the new person he finds is someone he had around right from the start.

"And now, it is silver and silent, it is silver and cold You, in somber resplendence, I hold"

In this line he says how the old relationship is done. Silent and cold. Dead. But with the death of the old relationship, he has the new person there. The silver refrerence is kind of tricky to understand. In AFI's other song "This celluloid dream" he says "and upon leaving, all the colors turn to gray" That line is about people he loves leaving him. And what is silver but a shiny version of gray?

"Your sins into me Oh, my beautiful one Your sins into me As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer And I'll beg for forgiveness (Your sins into me) Your sins into me Oh, my beautiful one"

"Your sins into me" is fairly easy to understand. He says that he'll take all of that persons sins unto himself for them, because he loves that person so much. "As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer And I'll beg for forgiveness" I think this is where he first displays that he hurt this new person, somehow. So, because he hurt her, he's begging for forgiveness and praying that it all works out.

"Light, like the flutter of wings, feel your hollow voice rushing into me"

This is where the person he's with is ending it with him.

    "As you're longing to sing"

Also, very easy to understand. The person is explaining to him why it has to be that way, but the singer see's it as her asking for freedom.

"So I... I will paint you in silver, I will wrap you in cold I will lift up your voice as I sink"

This is where Davey concedes that she's better off without him, so he's putting her in the same gray color world as everyone else that he loved that left.

Next part is chorus, which was already explained.

"Cold in life's throws, I'll fall asleep for you"

He's saying how he thinks he's kind of bitter at the world, but he still cares enough about this person to do pretty much anything for them. I take the 'fall asleep for you' part as saying 'I would die for you'.

"Cold in life's throws, I only ask you turn As they seep... into me, oh, my beautiful one, now"

In this line, Davey displays to us that even though bitter, he still loves this person with all his heart. That even though she's leaving he's still willing to take all of her sins upon him. I think this tells us that Davey still wants to maintain some kind of relationship with the person.

I hope my interpetation of this song pleases you all. I see it this way because, I'm personally going through about that same thing right now.

oooh i looove this song, it's one of their better songs on 'sing the sorrow'. i have no idea what it's supposed to mean, but to me it's about giving up everything for people you love... maybe i'm too optimistic :-D --kels

Listen you guys could all be right, but have you considered this. He's definately in a relationship with a person male or female, but i think the person is more experienced in life and its pains. This is definately a love making song. The part your sins into me, can be interpreted in 2 ways. A beautiful woman using her mouth (her sin) to pleasure davey. Imagine Davey receiving oral with the line your sins into me playing simultaneously. It just fits. As a rapterous voice escapes i will tremble a prayer, that means when he's about to climax he screams and yells (rapturous voice) but feels somewhat guilty that he asks god to forgive him. Guys, this is a good song to make love to your lady or ladies to!! Davey rulez! Props to hunter, adam, and jade. Sorry if i mispelledd anything, kinda in arush ya know

I don't understand this completely, but so far what others have for this song doesn't fit for me. I does seem of an end to a relationship, but not how the others have, so far, described it. And it needn't be a relationship with a female, you know. It could be with anyone.

"I... I came here by day, but I left here in darkness And found you, found you on the way And now, it is silver and silent, it is silver and cold You, in somber resplendence, I hold" He came there in hope, perhaps, or happiness, but left in sorrow. Between the happiness and sorrow, he ran into this one, this person. It implies that the person possibly had something to do with what caused him the sorrow. Eveything is silver now, the memories, preserved and brought to the fore. Cold in that the feelings they once evoked are now gone. And he holds this image of this person, this somber, serious person. Perhaps to remind himself, though there are no implications to this.

"Your sins into me Oh, my beautiful one Your sins into me As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer And I'll beg for forgiveness (Your sins into me) Your sins into me Oh, my beautiful one" This person had probably blamed it on themselves, perhaps they felt that they were somehow bad for him, had done too many bad things in their life. And he, he is saying that he doesn't care; that he will take the person's sins from them. And this rapturous voice is probably the woice of the one he's taken the sins from. As they are freed, of perhaps it is forgiven, he prays, probably to have the person's sins cleansed, or to be forgiven for taking their sins. (There is another way to view this verse. It is possible that this person had done things to him, bad things, and that is what is meant by "Your sins into me". He still cannot see the badness in this person, or perhaps believes that there is still beauty in them, hence "my beautiful one". This rapturous voice may be a symbol of the glee this person takes in their passing of sins; their bad doings. And he is perhaps praying to be forgiven by the person, such as in an abusive relationship.)

I would go on, but you get the idea. Besides, I am dead tired. If anyone wants me to continue this, just PM me, or post it up here. To be quite honest, I'd be very surprised if anyone did. And if there are any parts that you don't think fit to what I've put up as my point, tell me. It may help me clarify my opinion, or see it in a new light. Or, I'd just end up explaining it to you, whether it makes sense or not. Personally, I'd prefer the former.

"Sometimes, I feel as though, if I looked in a mirror, it would crack; shatter itself into the perfect reflection of the many sharp, jagged pieces of my soul." ~SoS~ (me, by the way)

I'm reluctant to say that "Silver and Cold" has a relatively sexual meaning to me.

It reminds me of something a church-going friend of mind said. She said, "it's an old belief that when you have sex with someone, you're taking in their sins and they're taking in yours." Hense, "Your sins into me..." and also

"I will lift up your voice as I sink..." -Pretty self-explainatory

"As a rapturous voice escapes..." Also kinda self-explainatory

"You, in somber resplendence, I hold..." If you know what "somber" and "resplendence" mean, this part explains itself as well...

But I don't know... that's what it means to me. It's still a beautiful song, nevertheless. It probably isn't what Davey was thinking about, seeing how he's not Christian and that's probably an old Christian belief... but I'm entitled to my opinion, right?

And being sXe means no CASUAL sex... nothing about monogamy.

reading an above comment, i totally and completely agree with something pugetgirl said. a gay relationship. i hold a strong belief in the javey rumors, and the video helpd that alot. in hard rock live, davey says "oh my beautiful one" and jade mouths it and points. ok, i'm done. if anyone here is against javey, im sorry if i offend.

I'd be wary about trying to find Javey stuff in any of the songs, MidnightEye. Nothing against it (more power to them if it's true, I think it'd be great) but even if it is (which I'm not gonna speculate on since it doesn't really matter) I just don't think they'd make it a part of the band. Remember Hunter and Adam are part of it, too. And unless you're implying something really kinky... ^^

    Oh, and I gotta give this one to discarnate. As soon as he pointed out that allegory, everything just sort of fell into place, and I understood it a great deal more. Though I still don't get the whole, "Jade, Hunter and Adam EXPLODE!" thing. I know a few people who are thoroughly confused by that. ^^;;

well i guess it could be about sex within a relationship as sXe people can have sex within a relationship... haha itd be a very dull thing being straight edge when you cant have sex AT ALL... although if he mentions it being a sin and the whole begging for forgiveness thing he could be feeling guilty about having a one night stand

ill shut up now, i like how davey has chosen the only "religion" that isnt a religion to be part of (as you already know, hes pretty anti - christian)... but i see it as a religion... conforming to a "book" of rules and that... lol ill shut up once again.

Ok. I think the song is about heroin addiction. Silver and cold (like a needle), your sins into me ... (taking in a shot). People always go off on these weird tangents, when there's usually a simpler explaination. Sorry to have to burst some pretty big bubbles.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
