This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.
Do you not hear me anymore
I know it's not your thing to care
I know it's cool to be so bored
I sucks me in
When you're aloof
It sucks me in, it sucks it works
I guess it's cool to be alone
Will you never rest
Fighting the battle of who could care less
Everyday you wake up late
Sometimes I wish I was
That way
And you think Rockford Files is cool
But there are some things
That you would change
If it were up to you
So think about your masterpiece (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Watch the Rockford Files
And call to see if Paul can score some weed.
Do you never rest
Fighting the battle of who could care less
Unearned unhappiness
That's all right I guess
I've got this great idea
Why don't we pitch it to the Franklin Fucking Mint
Fine pewter portraits of
General apathy and major boredom singing
Whatever and ever Amen
Oh well maybe not I'll try again
This should cheer you up for sure
See I've got your old I.D.
And you're all dressed up like the Cure
You never rest
Fighting the battle
Of who could care less
Unearned unhappiness
You're my hero I confess
I know it's not your thing to care
I know it's cool to be so bored
I sucks me in
When you're aloof
It sucks me in, it sucks it works
I guess it's cool to be alone
Will you never rest

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
Do you not hear me anymore I know it's not your thing to care....
i don't think catch-22 is the correct term in describing apathy as a goal...oxymoron perhaps? catch-22 refers to an inescapable situation...like no matter what path you take, you're screwed.
"Well this should cheer you up for sure / See, I've got your old ID, and you're all dressed up like the Cure" is Ben breaking the guy's balls a little bit.
During the 80s his grumpy hipster friend was obviously a Robert Johnson-emulating Goth. Because it was cool at the time. Now that's not cool anymore, and he's emulating something else, and would presumably be mortified to see himself looking so "uncool" with his stringy long black hair and such on his old ID.
fairly self explanatory this really. About a person who has a friend who is just about the most nochalent person he knows, where being casual is cool, to the point where it's just an act. Good song, 'whatever and ever, amen'
This song completely reminds me of an ex-boyfriend who is now a friend. Especially the first stanza and the lines about how his aloofness sucks the person in. It's a great song :)
Love this song. My best friend in high school was just like this. Exactly like this. We haven't hung out in over 20 years, but I still think of her when I hear this song. And how she made me feel so small with her apathy to everything I said or did. And yet, in high school, I always wished I could be more like her. Gotta love those old high school best friends.
"Why don't we pitch it to the Franklin fucking mint Fine pewter portraits of General Apathy and Major Boredom singing... Whatever and ever Amen"
I agree with anna118k, those are awesome lines. My favorites. GENERAL apathy & MAJOR boredom. Wow. :o) I am very much intrigued by these kind of people, these extremely zoned out people who can just ignore everything and be cool. Wish I could be like that sometimes. Really.
Seems like a song about the complete and total disregard for any kind of deity or ruling force - 'Whatever and ever, Amen' is like aThere may be a God but I dont really care if there is one' kind of thing
First Ben song i heard. beauty. Two people that 'religiously' follow the belief that they have to act aloof to win. I can never be bothered with these mind games or the way some girls start arguements in relationships cos they think we'll break up and make up passionately. I certainly proved her half-right! heh, heh.
i love this song. "whatever and ever amen"... its so brilliant.
yeah this song is definately about an extremely apathetic person.
