I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. I thought I heard Ben say he took this girl out to Taco Bell before she dumped him, hence the "wish I hadn't bought you dinner right before you dumped me." I could be wrong though, but it adds more humor to the song! Also, Ben said since this song is a "sad song" it should've been written in a minor key instead of major- hearing his "new" version of it in a minor key is hilarious- go see him in concert. :-)
