The gray ceiling on the earth
Well it's lasted for a while
Take my thoughts for what they're worth
I've been acting like a child
In your opinion, and what is that?
It's just a different point of view

What else, what else can I do?
I said I'm sorry, yeah I'm sorry.
I said I'm sorry , but what for?
If I hurt you then I hate myself
Don't want to hate myself, don't want to hurt you
Why do you chew your pain?
If you only knew how much I love you, love you

[Chorus]
I won't be your winter
And I won't be anyone's excuse to cry
We can be forgiven
And I will be here

The old picture on the shelf
Well it's been there for a while
A frozen image of ourselves
We were acting like a child
Innocent and in a trance
A dance that lasted for a while

You read my eyes just like your diary,
Oh remember, please remember
Well, I'm not a beggar, but what's more
If I hurt you, then I hate myself,
I don't want to hate myself don't want to hurt you
Why do you chew that pain?
If you only knew how much I love you, no

Well I won't be your winter
I won't be anyone's excuse to cry
And We can be forgiven
And I will be here

[Chorus]

This song is so amazing lyrically not to mention musically!! I think the song is about a guy who hurt somone that he loved and he has become their "winter", their cold season. The guy is saying that he is sorry for letting her down and that he loves her so much, but he won't stand still and become her winter...ie "I won't be any one's excuse to cry". In the end of the song, he realizes that he loves her too much to just walk away..."I will be here"

I love sister hazel, and this is the first song I heard by them. I downloaded all the songs from the movie 10 Things I hate About You and this one just stuck out to me. So I bought their cd, and they are amazing. His voice is beautiful and all their lyrics are just...amzing, there is not enough words to describe it.

To me this song goes perfectly with my last relationship. Things were great but it all went bad and we broke up. Afterwards it was just like no regrets dont cry bout it. Maybe one day we can put this behind us and get back together. Until then we'll love each other as friends.

My ex boyfriend just sang this song to me...it almost made me cry. This is the sweetest and saddest song, and coming from him made it even better...I love this song. I can totally relate to it, its just the best.

What else can I do? I said I'm sorry, yeah I'm sorry. I said I'm sorry , but for? If I hurt you then I hate myself Don't want to hate myself, don't want to hurt you Why do you choose your pain? If you only know how much I love you, love you

this song is great because it can have more than one meaning. overall, its about someone who has become someone's "cold season" [beautifully worded by snowbunny] and has hurt them so much that they hate themselves. its a song about forgiving, and in the end, they'll always "be here" for the other person no matter what. snowbunny's explanation was perfect.

FAVORITE PART: [ryan's amazing guitar solo] AND "if i hurt you then i hate myself; i don't wanna hate myself, don't wanna hurt you. why do you chew your pain? if you only knew how much i love you.."

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
