If I, I get to know your name
Well if I, could trace your private number, baby

All I know is that to me
You look like you're lots of fun
Open up your lovin' arms
I want some, want some

I set my sights on you (and no one else will do)
And I, I've got to have my way now, baby

All I know is that to me
You look like you're having fun
Open up your lovin' arms
Watch out, here I come

You spin me right 'round, baby
Right 'round, like a record, baby
Right 'round, 'round, 'round
You spin me right 'round, baby
Right 'round, like a record, baby
Right 'round, 'round, 'round

I (I, I, I)
I got to be your friend now, baby
And I (I, I, I)
Would like to move in just a little bit closer

All I know is that to me
You look like you're lots of fun
Open up your lovin' arms
Watch out, here I come

You spin me right 'round, baby
Right 'round, like a record, baby
Right 'round, 'round, 'round
You spin me right 'round, baby
Right 'round, like a record, baby
Right 'round, 'round, 'round

I want your love
I want your love

All I know is that to me
You look like you're lots of fun
Open up your lovin' arms
Watch out, here I come

You spin me right 'round, baby
Right 'round, like a record, baby
Right 'round, 'round, 'round
You spin me right 'round, baby
Right 'round, like a record, baby
Right 'round, 'round, 'round

You spin me right 'round, baby
Right 'round, like a record, baby
Right 'round, 'round, 'round
You spin me right 'round, baby
Right 'round, like a record, baby
Right 'round, 'round, 'round

You spin me right 'round, baby
Right 'round, like a record, baby
Right 'round, 'round, 'round
You spin me right 'round, baby
Right 'round, like a record, baby
Right 'round, 'round, 'round

OK. First, nobody should visit the MEATSPIN site. It tried to activate a known-to-be-dangerous file download that installs a new ActiveX codec in Internet Explorer. I use Firefox which is how I knew it happened. Not to mention that if you're a straight guy you won't like the site anyway.

People seem to have the genre messed up. This is one of the first true HiNRG songs ever made. HiNRG is a form of New Wave. New Wave is distantly related to electronica, and is a type of electronica but is actuallly very different. HiNRG = "High Energy".

I was debating including this, seeing as it is completely irrelevant, but it may be an effective way to slap some homophobes in the face:

Pete Burns was/is either gay or has an alternative gender identity. This song was one of the first songs to be successful in the music industry that featured a gay theme (and it does; the lyrics are from one man to another). Remember, I said ONE of the first, not the first. There were others to come before it.

Personally, I see this as just another bouncy HiNRG song. If you're feeling kinda down, it can bring your mood up a bit just because of how 'light' and 'bouncy' the music is.

People who are really into other forms of electronica that feature lyrics really owe a lot to songs like this. New Wave is what started the electronic music type, and HiNRG inspired a lot of 90s pop. Pop is one of the genres that are commonly 'dissected' and used in electronic music (you never hear a mixed Van Halen track coming from a club when you drive by).

I'll be keeping an eye on this page after I make this post. Any comments that reflect negativity towards gays will be reported. If you're planning on making such a post, you should feel disgusted with yourself.

This song is awesome. I do think it's interesting that the creepiness of some of the lyrics is neutralised by the jaunty electronic beat and the pulchritude of Pete Burns. If some guy came up to me talking about tracing my phone number and having to have his way because he's set his sights on me (and no one else) I'd be figuring out how to get a restraining order.

I actually really like this song, and I think this band deserves more credit, becaus they were promoting this kind of music [ the electronic style] before alot of other musicians were. I actually think that this bands music has influenced alot of the techno, and industrial music heard today. This song in paticular was programed very well, and sounds very unique for the time.

I believe everyone, of course, that this is by a gay guy singing about another guy. But is there any way to tell that from the song? "Contextually" this song could be about a woman singing to a man if a woman sang the exact same lyrics.

    Song Meaning

And now for the actual thoughts on it's meaning, since this is songmeanings. I guess it's no big deal, but damn, it seems so ignorant to me, there are chat rooms for anything music, but lets try to make this site a stand out and unique. Lets keep this for meaning and anything else. But my thought on the meaning is meeting someone and never regretting meeting them no matter what happens between the two or just a simple love sing, like how pride and joy is from Stevie Ray Vaughan. And for the ignorant ones that choose what they want to read. Just in case you say something stupid. YES I know Stevie Ray Vaughan is blues/rock and this is not blues/rock I am just saying. :D

I love this song! The super long introduction is amazing and it's a great dance song. Classic hit, no doubt.

This song is brilliant, as is the video. Pete Burns is the pirate king.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
