This thing called love
I just can't handle it
This thing called love
I must get 'round to it
I ain't ready
Crazy little thing called love

This thing (this thing) called love (called love)
It cries (like a baby), in a cradle all night
It swings (woo), it jives (woo)
Shakes all over like a jellyfish
I kinda like it
Crazy little thing called love

There goes my baby
She knows how to rock and roll
She drives me crazy
She gives me hot and cold fever
She leaves me in a cool, cool sweat

I gotta be cool, relax
Get hip and get on my tracks
Take a back seat, hitchhike
And take a long ride on my motorbike
Until I'm ready
Crazy little thing called love

Yeah

I gotta be cool, relax
Get hip and get on my tracks
Take a back seat, hitchhike
And take a long ride on my motorbike
Until I'm ready (ready Freddie)
Crazy little thing called love

This thing called love
I just can't handle it
This thing called love
I must get 'round to it
I ain't ready
Crazy little thing called love

Crazy little thing called love (yeah, yeah)
Crazy little thing called love (yeah, yeah)
Crazy little thing called love (yeah, yeah)
Crazy little thing called love (yeah, yeah)
Crazy little thing called love (yeah, yeah)
Crazy little thing called love (yeah, yeah)
Crazy little thing called love (yeah, yeah)
Crazy little thing called love (yeah, yeah)

It wasn't written in a bath or a hottub. However the inspiration came whilst visiting a SPA in Germany. And it surely read "he drives me crazy" not she, when FM originally penned it.

Call me crazy, but us heterofreaks don't want to hear about manlove...

This song was written in 1979, TWO YEARS AFTER Elvis had died. So get your facts straight, please... Cover-my-arse.

They do kind of sound like Elvis, don't they? Funny for a British band. Freddie wrote it in the bathtub while in Paris, I read in the notes to "The Game" CD... go figure...

This is a tribute to Elvis. Freddie wrote it in the bathtub.

IMO Freddie and Elvis are on the same level vocal wise. Vocally Elvis was a killer on stage just like Freddie. Unfortuately whenever anyone talks about great musicians the same ones get repeated: Elvis, The Beatles and Michael Jackson. Freddie was better than all 3 and this is why:
Elvis had great vocals but he couldn't write music or songs. Freddie did all three.
The Beatles (Paul & John) were great songwriters but they didn't sing as great as Freddie. Freddie could do both.
Michael Jackson could dance and I think he wrote a few songs but Freddie had a powerful voice, solely wrote classics and he didn't need to know how to dance because his stage presence as a rock frontman was the best. But for some reason Freddie never gets mentioned and I think it's a disgrace because he had more talent than anyone.

It's a Rockabilly song, Rockabilly was big in the UK in the late 70's.

All good comments... now for the puts on glasses official analysis haha

I think it's about falling in love but not being sure if you're ready to get into something serious yet, being slightly afraid of love and unexperienced. Also, 'take a long ride on my motor bike' seems to connote either: a) being not ready and afraid, running away from someone you love to try and seem 'cool' and not over-keen. b) wanting more experience before getting tied down, so turning to promiscuous sex.

Oh, and i love the 'Ready Freddie!' bit!

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
