I walk along the avenue
I never thought I'd meet a girl like you
Meet a girl like you

With auburn hair and tawny eyes
The kind of eyes that hypnotize me through
Hypnotize me through

And I ran
I ran so far away
I just ran
I ran all night and day
I couldn't get away

A cloud appears above your head
A beam of light comes shining down on you
Shining down on you

The cloud is moving nearer still
Aurora Borealis comes in view
Aurora comes in view

And I ran
I ran so far away
I just ran
I ran all night and day
I couldn't get away

Reached out a hand to touch your face
You're slowly disappearing from my view
'Pearing from my view

Reached out a hand to try again
I'm floating in a beam of light with you
Beam of light with you

And I ran
I ran so far away
I just ran
I ran all night and day

And I ran
I ran so far away
I just ran
I couldn't get away

And I ran
I ran so far away
I just ran
I ran all night and day

And I ran

you guys are pathetic. this song is about being afraid of love. he meets a woman that fits his dream and he bolts.

"A cloud appears above your head. A beam of light comes shining down on you. "

sounds like an angel of some kind to me. Also, the mention of Aurora borealis (aka the northern lights) is parralleling beauty

    My Interpretation

Is it possible there could be a double meaning? On the surface, it's about abduction, but it's really about how someone can abduct you emotionally when you fall in love, like steal your heart and it's scary.

    My Interpretation

The song is about a person's feelings of love and desire, and how they are trying to escape from reality to be with the person they love.

The lyrics mention the protagonist walking along the avenue and encountering a girl who has a captivating effect on him. He then describes how a cloud appears above her head, a beam of light comes shining down on her, and the cloud begins to move nearer. This can be interpreted as the protagonist feeling drawn to the girl, and having a desire to be close to her.

The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "And I ran, I ran so far away" which can be interpreted as the protagonist trying to escape from the reality and seeking a place where he and the girl can be together. He says that he ran all night and day, but couldn't get away, which may suggest that his feelings for the girl and the desire to be with her are so strong that he cannot escape them.

The last part of the song mentions the protagonist reaching out a hand to touch the girl's face, only to see her slowly disappearing from his view. He then tries again and finds himself floating in a beam of light with the girl, which can be interpreted as a moment of pure happiness and connection with her.

This song, and the entire album is about alien abduction. If you look up the album art for the vinyl copy of the single "I ran", you will see a closeup of a man's sunglasses with UFO's in the reflection. The strange women in the video are ALIENS....RUN!!! RUUUUUNNNNNNN!!!!!!

Step 1) Watch music video. Step 2) Listen to entire album & watch their videos.

I shit you not....The entire album is about UFO sightings & alien abduction. It was probably meant as a joke, inspired by E.T., or they just really wanted a theme/gimmick.

Oh, for pete's sake, of course this song is about alien abduction. The name of the band, "A Flock of Seagulls" is from some quote on being abducted, the authorities scoff at the report, saying the victim saw a flock, not a UFO. the beam of light from a "cloud" is the girl getting abducted, but the singer, at first terrified (and running), but in the end in love, reaches out to touch her, and floats in the beam with her, getting abducted too.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
