The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.
If you could only read my mind
You would know that things between us
Ain't right
I know your arms are open wide
But you're a little on the straight side
I can't lie
Your one vice
Is you're too nice
Come around now can't you see
I want you
All tattooed
I want you bad
Complete me
Mistreat me
Want you to be bad
If you could only read my mind
You would know that I've been waiting
So long
For someone almost like you
But with attitude, I'm waiting So come on
Get out of clothes time
Grow out those highlights
Come around now can't you see
I want you
In a vinyl suit
I want you bad
Complicated
X-rated
I want you bad
Don't get me wrong
I know you're only being good
But that's what's wrong
I guess I just misunderstood
I want you
All tattooed
I want you bad
Complicated
X- rated
I want you bad
I mean it
I need it
I want you bad
You would know that things between us
Ain't right
I know your arms are open wide
But you're a little on the straight side
I can't lie
Your one vice
Is you're too nice
Come around now can't you see

In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,
I think he wants to put it in her butt.
pretty much being with a girl you like, but she has these hang ups about being what people want her to be,and being a prissy, britney type, and wanting her to be bad as she can be....neat,kinda twisted love song perhaps
Why I didn't understand what he ment when he played this song for me, I'll never know. But hey, now whenever I think of it, I think of you Chris. God, I'm dumb.
It's a love song with a twist, people. "I want you bad - LITERALLY" It's pretty clever...
@prayingmantis84 I suspect that linguistic twist was the exact motivation for writing it.
This is one of my favorite songs of offsprings, and it has a sweet chorus.
Is this supposed to be punk!?? I hope the new album isn't like this cos the real punk fans will just walk away
Actually, buddy, the breakout album Smash was labeled Indie. So punk fans never really got turned on. Heh i wish people would just forget the selling out BS because honestly I don't think accusing Dexter, Noodles, Greg, and Ron will actually influence their style. If you don't like their new stuff, buy the old. Don't like the old buy the new. Don't like Offspring shut yoru MOUTH. Yeah, I know it's quite simple.
Lots of male opinions (i'm assuming thats what the blue/pink lines are). This song could be about me. I'm not bad, but the guys I like would like me to be.
This song reminds me and my best friend who both really like this guy and he flirts with me and my firend so much. We want him really bad ! But he is taken!! so this song will always me think of this guy! and my firend
What a great.fucking.song. Yeah it's pretty obvious it's about a guy who wants his nice-girl to be dirty and have a little more attitude. How hot.
This song is so perfect for me.........
