Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?
When the shirt came off, it was all in time
When a minute turned into a mile
And then I broke that grin, and I cut it out
And you got all turned on by the taste of your sin
When I mention blue, all you thought was color
When you mention drugs, all I thought was sober
When your pants came off and I turned you over
When you mention blue
Kill, smile, cut it out for me this time
Smile, haven't seen him smile in awhile.
Keep the mask aligned
Get it up in time
There's a space between valleys
and try and catch a vibe
Make a circle square, a rectangle curve
Use a smile as a noun and I think like a verb
Run quick switch sides
Spill the filled up canister
And the room is shaking
Now you're changing places,
and I switched my pace,
and my breathing races when you mention blue
Kill, smile, cut it out for me this time
Smile, haven't seen him smile in awhile.
Kill, smile, cut it out for me this time
Smile, haven't seen him smile in awhile.
You, smile, cut out for me cut it cut it out
Smile, cut it out for me cut it cut it out
We cut it out
Get down and stay awake
Smile

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
I firmly believe he says "Kill your smile" in the chorus.
Some other guy does back up screams in the bridge and choruses...dunno who he is...I'll know when the CD comes out and I see liner notes.
The song's about Crystal Meth. Blue is slang for Crystal Meth. "When I mention blue, all you thought was color" And sex..maybe gay sex? "When the pants came off and I turned you over", "Run quick switch sides Spill the filled up canister And the room is shaking Now you're changing places, and I switched my pace"
It's also about facades, that's what the entire smile thing is about. It's about pretending to be okay when you're not.
alright so i think this song saying 'kill, smile, cut it out for me this time' i dont think its 'you, smile' b/c instead of turning to a drug.. he is killing his past life as a druggy, kinda like a reglance back to 'say days ago' and i think the refrence to blue is to meth but its also to water and pureity of how water can be.. it might be just me but i think the coolest thing about this song is how sean screams with him... oh and i think when he says kill he is just useing it as refrence to 'get rid of'.. and i think this is an amazing and briliant song... i love it
the screaming in this song is nuts
i understand this, im not trying to make you feel stupid or something, anyways great song, great album, great band
i personally dont think in love and death was as good as their first album, but this song is my favorite on the cd. its so good, and the screaming is just...awesome.
Well, I don't think it is meant in a gay way. If you read the "Thank-Yous" Bert mentions Kate (his late ex) and says that all of the songs were written for her. Also, guys can do a chick up the ass just as easily as they can a male. (Because I do think it means that)
But besides that, this song is just so extremely emotional! I love it. For some reason (and this is only my opinion) I think it means being with someone, but feeling abusive and angry. Like.......you want to punish them because they are driving you crazy. You want to make love to them and hurt them at the same time.
And also you can do a chick from behind without putting it in her ass. Turning her over, could have just been doggy style
yeah i hear what your saying man. if its that in the cd then i shall change it. yeah i was wondering who that was cause i didn't think anyone else in the band had that kind of vocals.

Guy who screams that isn't Bert = Sean Ingram of Coalesce.
the guy who says "this is not" (x6) might be sean ingram of coalesce, but most of the screaming clearly sounds like bert. sean has a deeper scream, don't you think?
yeah its: kill, smile, cut it out for me this time. smile this is not a smile. haven't seen him smile in a little while. buy the cd, read the lyrics from the band
