If anyone has any new feature suggestions for the site, whether it has to do with comments, the forums, or even journals; I would love to hear them. We're always looking for ways to improve, and we want to hear from those of you who will benefit most.

I'm always talking about how the Journal is my favorite feature of the site, so I'm going to start using it more often. Mainly as a way to keep everyone in the loop and discuss all things SongMeanings.

Things have been crazy lately. Between work and SM and everything else, I've been busy and haven't had as much time to devote to this journal as I'd like.

Things have definitely picked up around here. We're still winning people back, but new user count is continuing to climb as well, which is great. If you haven't already, please tell your friends.

Also, the servers are holding up well and I am very happy with the speed. From the looks of it, so is everyone else.

I've been MIA lately as I have not had internet access until today. As Idan mentioned in the last post, things have been slow, and I am also part of that reason as well.

The new server arrived today, it will take a little bit to get it racked, configured and ready to go, but we'll be busy working on that for the next several days. I'm very excited about it.

Things may be a little bumpy while we integrate the new server. We're going to be doing some DNS changes as well during the install. If the site does happen to go offline, keep checking back as we will probably be working on it and will have it back up. I will try to post more info about any outages before they might occur. We hope to avoid this however.

Ah well.

In light of the recent bug we encountered, I have finally gotten off my ass and begun to implement network monitoring. We used Netsaint before, and are going to be using the new version now known as Nagios.

The initial set up is complete. Pre-flight checked out and main server monitoring has been enabled and running. All service checks are running normally. Over the next few days I'm going to be adding the rest of our network to the config to be monitored, then from there a LOT of tweaking. This thing is unbelievably sweet, but very in-depth, so it will take a bit to get it to 100%.

I've been working on the server here and there. I really need to sit down one afternoon and spend a good couple of hours on it. Seems to be running well now, which is good for everyone.

Thanks again to everyone who made it happen. I know there are some out there that think we spent the money on cock rings or something weird like that (I'm not really into bondage and that sort of thing (sorry ladies)), but as you can see, we put the money elsewhere and it's done a lot of good thus far.
