Ok. 

I rewrote the add lyrics script.  There might be some bugs, so if you find them, please let me know.  

First, I haven't updated everyone's trusted user status yet.  If you were previously a trusted users (and don't want to wait until I run the conversion script), go ahead and submit a new lyric.  The new lyric will go in as pending, but the script WILL update you to trusted user status.  

50 submitted and approved lyrics == trusted user

Trusted user's submissions go straight into the database -- they're live and active.  Nothing changed here from the old method.

A couple new fields:

1) Instrumental:  If it's an instrumental song, please mark the field as yes.  This is to clean up our database and be consistent on every song.  

2) Featuring:  If the song is featuring an artist (such as Kanye featuring Young Jeezy), you can put the featuring artist's name in this field.  If the song is featuring multiple artists, seperate them by commas.  The script will then go out and seek out their ID numbers on SongMeanings.  Eventually we'll get around to putting this data on the lyric pages.  

New tabs:

1) History:  This will show you the artist's history with lyric submits.  It'll show you the song title, the date it was added, and whether it's available/deleted/pending.  Very useful to keep track of your submits.

2) Guidelines:  Previously we had our guidelines in the forum.  We've moved this to it's own section.  Deal with it.    

So yeah, there we go.  Let me know if you guys have any ideas on how to improve on this process.

Couple of questions: (I'm just submitting an instrumental to see what happens.)

• Should we still type [Instrumental in the lyrics box, as well as clicking the Instrumental radio button?
• The "featured artists" section is phrased as a question. I'm assuming we don't type "no" in the box. It might prevent confusion to change the legend to Any additional musicians feeatured in this song (or similar).

Also, what all that latin about?

Is the Trusted User status going to appear next to our usernames like it did before?

 Instrumental is now a checkbox.  Upon checked ("yes" as instrumental), it'll feed "[Instrumental" into the textarea and disable it.  

I changed the wording on additional artists. 

For now, the label is just in your profiles. Eventually I want to tackle the forums and make the design 'flow' better with the rest of the site. This will include putting in labels for Trusted Users, Moderators, Admins, etc.

Sigs aren't gone forever. :)

It puts [Instrumental in the lyric box on the submission page, but on the lyric page it doesn't say Instrumental anywhere. It just has no lyrics and says (no lyrics yet) after the title on the song list.

can you make the new lyrics field bigger. The text seems so bite-size

Some people want to be able to see as much of the lyrics as possible. Why don't you use the Zoom / Text Size function of your web browser to alter the size?

I have a complaint. I submitted lyrics like two weeks ago, they were never approved or stuff, and now others have added these lyrics with the benefits of trusted user...

How is someone supposed to contribute to the site when they're being blocked from it?

 I updated something with 4th Avve the other day. I think I approved some lyrics too. There are none pending, so if you don't see them yet, please repost.

I can only assume that your lyrics were pending when the other person posted them. I know the pending artists got back up for awhile and they way it works, is the newest appear first. We can only see the most recently submitted 10 lyrics, so the person who submitted after you would have been approved first. They are now caught up and I rarely see more than 40 lyrics pending, if that.

In the future, now that Trusted User status is updated, you should not be routed to the pending area and your lyrics will appear immediately. I think it was merely a glitch in the transition.

There's no standard on translations- For instance, Gackt's Artist page is sloppy as hell because of it. Somtimes translations are comments, and sometimes they're lyrics of themselves. I don't know which is preferred so I don't know if I should try to edit the terrific grammar in the translations or pray that they're in Hiroshima when we drop the bomb.

If/When ya'll get around to minor details like things-that-make-my-eye-twitch, are there plans to have an option to have a "Translation" comment type, or one of those neat check boxes or something to clean it up and set a standard?
