Hey everyone,
Some of you haven't enjoyed the Tone bar at the bottom of SongMeanings as much as others, so we set out to give you the option to permanently hide the footer bar.
We're permanently hiding the tool bar for _every_ logged in users. If you're currently logged in and are still seeing it, please log out of SongMeanings and then log right back in.
If you'd prefer to see the Tone bar, then head to your preferences while logged in.
songmeanings.net/preferences/ads/
Thanks,
Mike

What a pleasant surprise to return home and see this. I woud say "thank you" but Songmeanings will NOT allow me to sign out of the site. Talk about a captive audience!

I'm serious, Mike. I cannot sign off this site. I tried to the other day as well (since the design change) and it was a NO GO. It's a real ego boost, but I really must go home and get my beauty sleep ;)

I'm beginning to think you just want to keep me around for my charming company:) Whenever I try to log out (which has been often lately), I am immediately taken to the FRONT page....every time. Very soon you're gonna have to provide me with a stipend for room and board (plus 3 sqares a day) if I am unable to leave this site. And I apologize for the horrible (not funny) comments someone posted to/about you in the forum....

Oh, Mike. How you must want me to remain on this site. Shall I never be allowed to sign off this site? (And rid my computer of that horrid Tone bar:)

Haha, you're the only one who is experiencing these issues. You have me stumped.

I tend to have that effect on men ;-) And that's not necessarily a good thang:) Soooooooooooo......what do you suggest I do? I've shut down my comptuer and that didn't do anything. I've repeatedly tried signing off...and L*O*O*K I am still here. I'm like the company who comes to dinner and just won't leave. (Dang, I wish I could find a better analogy but that's the best I can do after beeing cooped up on this music site 24/7:) Please discuss this issue with other brilliant minds and get back to me. I dont' wish to be charged rent for taking up space....

We're good, Mike. I may still have that annoying Tone bar (which you said would go bye-bye once we logged out...and it didnt'), but I found a way to log out of the page at least. I opened up Firefox! Then I got back on Internet Explorer. And now I can sign in and out successfully. And they say blondes are dumb. HA. I scoff!

And you still have the bar showing entirely?

Yup... although it's not popping up and driving me crazy, so I am thankful. I just thought it would go away entirely. I expecially hate that I fail every Tone quiz. (I get all the questions wrong.) I don't like being a failure:) Anyone tell you you have the patience of a saint? And I do believe there is a Saint Michael...perhaps a relative :)

Haha, thanks, I think.
Yeah, we didn't get rid of it entirely. It'll still exist in a tiny tab at the bottom of your screen. I can personally tolerate this method as opposed to it being totally open.

LOL... now it's kicking me off the site each time I change a page. I cannot win, Mike. However, I finally got the "You've stumped me" part. LOL. Good one. Please make Songmeanings like me again:)

I'm going to try and reset your account behind the scenes. It should prompt you to login again the next time you come to the site ... err, you might be reading this message after the reset. Anyways, hopefully it'll help.

Oh man, Mike, we're having relationship problems in site matters:) I now cannot even sign on using Internet Explorer. I put in my info and it does nothing! I am having to use Firefox which has always given me "script" running problems. Any chance you can try to fix something (again) so I can sign on with Internet Explorer. People are going to start talking if you and I don't get things settled ;)

Can you try this and tell me what version of IE you are running?
Press ALT+H, and then click About Internet Explorer.

You are wonderful (although I should probably hate you for KNOWING you'd have to explain to me how to find what version of I.E. I am using). It's Internet Explorer 9. I never knew that! Then again, I just recently learned what a "browser" is and I've had a computer since 1991:-) Some of us are VERY slow learners. I'll check back in a few hours after catching some zzzzzzzzzz's to see if I can sign in using I.E. Thanks again. Appreciate your help...

I sometimes wonder if you're one of my parents. I feel like I have the same conversations with them about computers........ :)

Mike, I can no longer sign on with Internet Explorer; it won't allow me. And I've always had problems with Firefox on this site ("long running scripts"). It's OK, though. I will use this site just to upload new artists/lyrics, so it's not a huge deal. However, if you can get it so I can sign on with IE, I'd appreciate it. Take care and enjoy your evening...

When you go to login with IE, does it say invalid or anything like that? Or just long running scripts?
For IE, try clearing your cache:

Thanks. I did that but it didn't help. And when I visit the site offline each page takes forever to load. And it's only with Firefox that I have to constantly hit "stop script." Therefore, give up on me and this situation. I shall set aside one time a week to upload any new music and artists, and I'll use Firefox. It's no big deal. I do thank you immensely for trying to help me, though. Just another omen...best to spend my time on other things. Thanks again!

Not sure what you did, but thank you. I could sign on this morning and I have yet to be kicked off the site unexpectedly. Appreciate it...
