The old format allowed us to see the most recent comments and the most recent journal posting. Are those opportunities gone for good? As well I could edit who could view my journal entries, I have not as of yet found how to do that.

Like the new layout. And glad it helps you improve the site overall, to boot.

Also really glad you got the correction requests for lyrics actually organised, instead of having to use a thread... that's great. My one big big request would be a correction request facility for albums, rather than just lyrics; they're really not too well organised here, unfortunately... I'd happily use some of my time submitting corrections for them, as I use them quite a bit when on here.

I'm guessing the ability to add/edit albums has yet to be implemented?

That is correct

Mike has stated that it is on the to-do-list.

A user has address concerns that we won't be able to edit our own submitted lyrics without approval. I certainly hope this isn't the case when everything is 100%

Congratulations on your hard work, but I really dislike the new SongMeanings. This was my favourite lyrics site to visit because everything was simple and neat; no frills whatsoever. Now it looks like a cheap and chunky MetroLyrics.

Part of this is out of control.

If you submit lyrics and we obtain the license to these lyrics, they become locked and can only be changed from the copyright owners. We can suggest/submit corrections for changes to be made on these. But there is no guarantee they will be (and obviously no instant changes).

If you submit lyrics that are not copyrighted, then they are free for edit.

Edit feature is not quite back yet (we can do it from the backend for now), but will be made available shortly.

I fail to see how SM is a replica.

Unnecessary bulky buttons, news section, right up to the colour choices. Plus plenty more features I haven't explored yet.

huh, i just went to metrolyrics and it does look the same. pretty hard not to look like one of the hundreds of lyric sites though. and if you look at the wayback machine you can see that they only went blue and orange in 2009 / 2010, so if anything they copied us.

also their whole fucking page is covered in adverts, which is not true of us.

Sorry, but I don't like the new layout. Seems too in your face and bulky. The old design was nice and minimal. Any chance of an 'old layout' button?

I fail to see any similarities between us and ML.

Well, go back to the roots of SongMeanings. It's about lyrics, and what they mean to each person individually. It's not about "news, reviews & updates", extravagant display, advertising (advertising@songmeanings.net), or social networking, e.g. Facebook. Because I believe that SongMeanings was, but has the potential to be, "not just another lyrics site". Times are changing, but songs are timeless. Don't be a sheep.
