Try not to post the same question in more than one thread please.

Is there a way to edit our own comments/thread posts? I just tried to edit a thread I created, and it said that I am not authorized to do that... Shouldn't we have that authority to edit our own comments? If we can, guidance please...! Thanks.

You DO have the authority to proof-read and edit your posts... before you click reply or submitWink

If you really need to edit one of your posts or comments just pop a post in the report thread, or send me a PM, and i or one of the other moderators will be happy to oblige (as long as it doesn't turn the rest of the thread into nonsense).

What is the easiest way to view another user's profile? Also, does a suggested artist need to have an official site to be selected? Thanks.

  • The easiest way to view a user profile is to find a post, comment, PM, or lyric submission from that user and click on their name. It will be a link directly to their profile.

  • You can  also use google to search their name.
Type maomao27 site:songmeanings.net/profiles into google and google.co.uk/…">the profile you want should be the first link (obviously you'd type whatever username you're searching for.)

  • If you're viewing their journal, and you want to go to their profile, replace journals in the address bar of your browser with profiles and hit enter. That will take you to their profile.
    I.e. change songmeanings.net/journals/view/17394353/
                  to songmeanings.net/profiles/view/17394353/

Suggested artists don't have to have a website to be approved. However, it helps us greatly if you do post a link to a website, so we don't have to search for the artist to make sure that it exists and has the correct genre label.

If the artist doesn't have its own website, see if it has a myspace, last.fm, discogs, or wiki page. Any artist profile is better than nothing; for example, you might find a heavy metal band has a page on metal-archives.com. (But the artist's own website is preferred if you can find one.)

Thanks, because I have a friend that I suggested that is a musician but does not have a website. He does have a membership on this site, however.

I accidentally posted an interpretation of a song as a reply to another post instead of making it as my own post.  Naturally, I posted it again as my own post.

Can you do me a favor and delete the one in the form of the reply?  You can also delete the reply to that reply because it won't really make much sense without the first reply.

songmeanings.net/songs/view/3530822107858843223/">songmeanings.net/songs/view/3530822107858843223/

It's the two replies by me to songmeanings.net/profiles/view/17311616/">breakouttheshotguns's post that I want deleted.  Thanks in advance!

Hi there! I am new to actually having an account here but have loved SongMeanings for ages and finally stopped lurking and sort of dove in (and got a little too comment-y on my first foray because I kept hearing new corections for a song that had question marks for a few lines. My thinking started out, "Oh I should add that! Helpful!" thenbecame , "Wait, no, you're being annoying, maybe now is a good time to stop posting!"). The song is "Crown on the Ground" by Sleigh Bells. I just commented with what I think are the blank-fillers and corrected lyrics where there were question marks in the text. This leads to my question:

I noticed that "Riot Rhythm" (also by Sleigh Bells) is missing from all the lyric sites (SongMeanings included) and I caught most of them but not all. Having just seen a post with question marks indicating incomprehensible lines, I thought it was possible/acceptable to submit lyrics with "??" indicating missing words and tried to format it in as readable and comprehensible a format as possible but also read in the Guidelines that these posts will be rejected. Just wanted to find out if it's possible to put up a post with question marks and then let other people with a better ear comment for songs like this (shouty, noisy music with no lyrics included in liner notes). I figured maybe with a guideline someone can fill the rest in - having the "Crown on the Ground" lyrics mostly complete helped me figure out more of them to post in the comments, including the ?? parts so I am making an unfortunately longwinded plea to have this song included with omissions in the interest of um...community. And karaoke. Because I love SongMeanings, the general idea of community, and karaoke. Just wanted to check. Thank you!

Sorry, "this song" meaning the one I submitted, "Riot Rhythm". I'm not asking to have someone else's post edited to include my idea of what the lyrics are but the question-marks-in-lyrics thing has me a bit confused since I've seen a bunch of posts that are up and have question marks where there is an incomprehensible line. Thank you again for any help. I read the forum guidelines and lyric guidelines so I hope I am going about this correctly.

I have been lurking here for a while, but recently I wasn't able to view the comments/meanings anymore. I thought maybe the site changed and required a login to view... so I signed up. I click on "comments" and nothing. What's up?

Is there a limit to how many song lyrics you can submit in a day for one artist (or more)?

Hi I submitted some Harlem lyrics about a week ago and they still haven't been posted. They were accurate and I followed the guidelines. Was wondering why they aren't showing up.

Please check them again, we got backed up on lyric approval and finally got through nearly 1000 of them over the weekend.

Can you post a link to a page that does that? We are unable to recreate the issue.

I use IE at work and have never had a problem. Can you provide a link to the page or pages you were unable to view comments.
