But it's not the same as new, it has different, more sophisticated connotations, the word indicates a slightly longer period of time and the extra syllable also gives it a more casual, laid back edge.
By the way, where do you live?

Oh goodness. You are silly. Welcome.
I'm not new, just recent, so please don't treat me like (...) pariah.

Right, introducing myself. Let's see.
Firstly, please don't mind that silly nickname of mine - I wasn't patient enough to think of a better one. I'll make up for that initial lack of creativity later, just you wait. I am, as you might have guessed, interested in music. Some favourite bands / artists of mine are Andrew Bird, Bright Eyes, The Decemberists, Adam Green, Modest Mouse and, yes, I do listen to The White Stripes. I'm a grammar and spelling enthusiast, therefore I am pretty confident that we will get along just fine. If you catch me making a mistake: Be nice. I'm not a native English speaker. I'm living in Hamburg, Germany. No Nazi jokes, I've heard them all.
I'm looking forward to your witty responses.

"You started it!"
"No I didnt!""
"Yes you did, you invaded Poland"
:D
Loves Fawlty Towers :D
Ha, DigitalTremor, the Frankfurt Airport is a death trap. Glad to hear you're still okay after that experience. I spent a year in the US as an exchange student and knew every last Nazi joke after that. Go figure, haha.
Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. I'm looking forward to the discussions!
Lawl, thanks skyobrat. :D
How is Frankfurt a deathtrap? Is it the serial killers? Rapists? Or just really rude German people?
The latter, combined with the mazelike structure of the airport. If you add the questionable reputation of the city itself, you'll understand why I'd prefer not to get stuck there ever again.

Really? Where'd you go? We've had quite a few German exchange students, but I don't think anyone really makes/made Nazi jokes to them.

http://www.politicaltrendy.blogspot.com the best blog in sunland!
Thats kind of funny considering that punks hated Nazis and the Nazis probably would've hated punks.

I assumed there was a difference between skinheads and punks. So do punks hate authority right they're not fascist enough?

Ohio. It seems like everybody there has German roots, but the people I met had no idea about the country. Somebody actually asked me whether we have refrigerators over here. It surprised me how many people confused Germany with a third world country.

Ah, I was really little I hardly remember the structure of the airport. Except the fact that my mother lost her wallet and it was hell for her trying to get it back.
So WhiteStripe, which do you prefer, Germany or America?
I think that Rozhestvensky was saying that the people who enjoy punk music/made it really didn't like nazis, well at all. Then you, animus, linked that which I'm guessing is just about neo-nazis/skineheads and then Roz stated the difference between the two in a sarcastic manner.
Which makes sense (Roz's post) unless gg was referring to 'Nazi Punks Fuck Off' by the Dead Kennedy's (or another punk song that hates on nazis, which there are quite a few)... which I think is too witty to assume, but could be plausible. Or he just meant meant that nazis were punks in the since of like...hooligans. -shurg- I don't know.
I forgot to ask what I meant to say this first time.
What did you think of America, stripes? Our current German exchange student is pretty snooty and hates on us all the time for kind of silly reasons, but other ones we've had with us have seemed to like America for the most part. (especially Rosy who smoked a lot of pot and found it to be loads cheaper here haha)
Hey everyone. New kid here, please refrain from shoving me into any lockers etc. etc. My name's Alicia and I'm from Jersey, which means that I'm legally restrained from pumping my own gas and I think that you say "water" funny. I'm in love with music and photography, which inevitably leads to photographing concerts here and there. If it ends in -core, I probably listen to it, but I do listen to generic crunk rap, boy bands, and regurgitated MTV hits as well. I love going to local shows, pop-punk and hardcore mostly. And...that's about it.
