The band are from Crouch end, North London.
Starting at a very young age by playing at underage gig scene in London, they won Road to V in 2006 at the age of 16. Their songs in many ways reflect a young person's life-experiences, beliefs, and views on relationships. Their first EP, 'The Boy I Used To Be" was filled with songs that projected youth in its best way, with songs such as "The Hill", "Cancel on Me" and "Open House"
Their second EP 'How we are' was greatly recieved, with tracks like How Are You, which talks of young love. They have also re-released tracks like "Evening/ Morning" and "Always Like This". Their song "How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep" is on the Twilight New Moon Soundtrack. Bombay Bicycle Club won the Best New Band award at the 2010 NME Awards
They have had three albums too, 'I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Lose', 'Flaws' and in 2010 released "A Different Kind Of Fix". They have a strong following, and their songs chart well in Ireland.
Frontman jack Steadman says to have been influenced lyrically by Joni MItchell and his favourite lyric he said in an interview with NME-‘Dramamine’ by Modest Mouse “Any of the lyrics from that song are great but I particularly like: 'We kiss on the mouth but still cough down our sleeves'. Isaac Brock is one of my favourite lyricists, and this song describes perfectly any long-term relationship, when one starts hiding things.”
