Kasabian is an English rock band comprised of five members: Tom Meighan (lead vocals, tambourine), Sergio Pizzorno (guitars, backing vocals, occasional lead vocals, keyboards & electronic programming), Chris Edwards (bass), Ian Matthews (drums), and Jay Mehler (guitar). Touring members include Ben Kealey (keyboard) and Gary Alesbrook (trumpet). Chris Karloff is a former member of Kasabian (1997-2006).
Kasabian formed in Leicester in 1979. “The band’s music has been described as a mix between The Stone Roses and Primal Scream with the swagger of Oasis” (Allmusic). Kasabian’s discography includes four albums: Kasabian (2004), Empire (2005), West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum (2009), and Velociraptor! (2011). The band’s labels are RCA and Columbia.
Kasabian has won several awards, including the 2010 Brit Award for Best British Group. Through 2010, the band has received 27 nominations and has won eight awards. In 2013, it was nominated for Best British Band at the NME Awards (pending 27 Feb.).
